Thistlestar nodded. "Very well, Jadestar. Though, if you'll recall, I have been in StarClan far longer than any of you three; I could not possibly know Ternfeather or whichever cat was Vastflame's father." He shrugged. "As for my choice," The tabby continued. "I choose Redblood. He is an.... interesting sort, and my grandson." He hadn't liked what had become of his lineage, but... well, perhaps that was to be expected. "His father, Crimsonlight, was loyal if troublesome, and Flowerpetal, his dam, was a good daughter. Better than her brother, if anything."

Twistingstar was shocked at the other choices.
Sure, he knew the others didn't trust his choice, but he had faith in his grandson; and, like him, Thistlestar had chosen his grandkit. Was that such a bad thing? No, not really.
Jadestar's choice, he didn't know of. He didn't trust the she-cat, but he had no right to downplay her nominee.
Now, Sunstar... A she-cat formerly from MarshClan? You're going to choose a cat of my old Clan to lead your's? He was dumbfounded; surely she was mistaken. Were they talking about the same Mintleaf? The daughter of Hiddenstream and mate of Hauntedstar? Shaking his head slowly, the gray tom sharply narrowed his eyes, glaring into the face of the calico warrior, speaking no words, but shooting heated thoughts he hoped she could hear.

Sunstar stared back at Twistingstar evenly, pretending not to notice his glare. "Yes, Twistingstar," she said curtly. "It's good that you can remember which cats were in your Clan." Her tail tip flicked; she didn't want to explain her plan to him. "Besides, do you really think she'd want to return to MarshClan? After what Hauntedstar did?" Her blue eyes narrowed, knowing that it was dangerous to challenge Twistingstar's choice of deputy but doing it all the same. It was no wonder MarshClan had collapsed under Hauntedstar's weak rule; he had been too concerned about she-cats, thrusting aside one for another without a second thought.

Twistingstar felt a heated fire burn through his chest and heart. How dare this... this... pathetic excuse for a dead leader question him and his choices? At least I left my Clan with a deputy, he growled in response. And I left with plausible reasons, no? This was a pointed reminder meant to scald her, but he wasn't finished yet. This she-cat who wasn't Clan-born came in, saved the Clans, then went off to mate with an OceanClan warrior. The deception they carried out with their daughters was already a big disgrace. Not only that, but when she left with her family to live in sin, her Clan fell apart very soon after, for she hadn't had the brains to appoint a deputy; the poor cats had to act on their own to fill in for their traitorous leader's imcompetent mind. Besides, Mintleaf was a weak she-cat. Now that I think of it, she'd make a perfect leader of your Clan. He smiled crookedly, meaning to finish the argument but feeling like she wasn't just going to take that, either.

Sunstar's fur bristled and her tail lashed angrily. She forced herself to calm down and shrugged. "You wouldn't understand," she said simply, but in her heart she knew that they had had no excuse for mating with each other. Yet at the same time, her heart also told her that she had done the right thing in staying with Darkstar. How could she follow her heart when even it had no clear opinion? "At least my kin can be trusted." She stared back at him, now not even bothering to hide what she was saying. The calico leader felt that it was, above all, Morninglight's fault that MarshClan had fallen. Sunstar returned Twistingstar's smile. "I know it can be hard for some cats to see the bigger picture, but I'm afraid my days of mentoring are long over."

In my opinion, the riled gray leader spat, still sitting still but pulsing with anger, They should never have began. He jerked his head away, smirking to himself and shaking his head. Besides, he continued, my daughter was a fine warrior; she had quite a horrible life. She wasn't the one who mated with another cat outside of her Clan, did she? She never broke the law, did she? She wasn't turned away by her Clan, was she? He meowed pointedly, calming down a little. Some of what Sunstar had said was true. Hauntedstar had actually been a fine young cat, but he supposed his love for his daughter and the grief over his father had been too much. He felt a little guilt for the corruption of Hauntedstar and Morninglight, but that was in the past. They had to worry about the future now, and for that reason, he decided to stop arguing. No time to act like a newborn kitten, after all.

"Enough!" barked Thistlestar as the tabby shouldered himself between the two feuding leaders. "Sunstar, Twistingstar, need I remind you what is at stake here, or will you stop bickering like kits for two seconds and hear a prophecy?" The large tom sighed. "And we can't leave the Clans' names as they were before. There's too much trouble and pain associated with them. I suggest MireClan for MarshClan, WillowClan for ValleyClan, GorgeClan for MountainClan, and StreamClan for OceanClan. Is that acceptable, you three?"

[While Twisting and Sun hinder? xD It's fun to argue, though.] Twistingstar nodded, still stung by the reprimand - as if he were a kit - but then, he and Sunstar had acted like kits. He answered, That's fine. Not as good as MarshClan... but... decent, I suppose.

- slipping down a slide -- i did enjoy the ride --- don't know what to decide ---- you lied to me ----- you looked me in the eye ------ it took me by surprise ------- now are you gratified -------- you cried to me
Jadestar's tail twitched sullenly. Twistingstar and Sunstar were having quite a heated discussion over nothing. She glanced at Thistlestar boredly as they bickered. Finally, Jadestar snapped. Alright, what do we do next? She didn't care if she interrupted them or not. They were being immature anyway. Her ears twitched irritably. Jadestar was off-ease now that they had chosen cats. Secretly, she harbored the same worry as Twistingstar, though she would never admit that. Was Mintleaf really a fit leader? She had been through a lot of emotion abuse. It was no wonder if she didn't want to go back and live in the swamps. Jadestar sighed impatiently, breath curling out of her maw in a gust.

Thistlestar smiled. He liked Jadestar; she was annoying at times, but right now, she was just as eager to be finished with this messy business as he was. "Easy," He said coolly. "We gather our chosen together, have them gather their own Clans, give our leaders their nine lives and names, and a prophecy. Isn't that how it goes?"

Sunstar sighed and shrugged, feeling the overwhelming urge to turn to Thistlestar and say "He started it!" But she resisted and simply bit her tongue. WillowClan sounds nice," she commented, secretly thinking that it was the best of all the new names. Then she silently scolded herself for thinking like a kit. "Short, sweet, and to the point," Sunstar commented on Thistlestar's plan. "I like it. I suppose here's where we come up with the cryptic message that they'll decode after the fact." That was usually how it ended up. They guessed, and then when the prophecy came true they realized what it meant.

"Isn't that how it always goes, Sunstar?" Thistlestar meowed, sounding slightly weary now. "Come on. We need to make ourselves known to our chosen."

Sunstar nodded. It was prophecy time. She had never been fond of giving prophecies, but she was honored nonetheless to be ValleyClan--WillowClan's--representative from StarClan.
