A twiggy mass of ginger-and-white fur could be seen moving carefully through the fog laden undergrowth. This place was new to her, so new in fact she wasn't quite sure how she got here. Her maw was open slightly, taking in the scent of the place. Quite a few cats had lived here many moons ago but why was it deserted? Asphodel, or Azy as she is so often called, came to a slow stop at the base of a jagged hilltop and looked up to the sky. Through the fog, Azy could see a clear blue sky with fluffy white clouds. She turned around and sat on haunches, waiting quite patiently for Baykit to come bounding through the braken...

A second, less graceful form followed the first, charging recklessly through the undergrowth. "Hey, Azy, wait for me!" the large, fluffy gray kit called to the friend as she crashed through a bush, straight into something soft. Baykit pulled herself to her paws and shook her head to clear it. "I found you!" she said gleefully, looking at her friend with eyes full of joy. The she-cat then sat down and looked around. They seemed to be in some sort of a clearing. Her tail tip flicked uneasily; she recognized this place.

[glow=red,2,300]From the corner of her dark green eyes, she caught a flicker of movement. The tip of Baykit's tail had twitched and Azy saw that. Her ginger-and-white head cocked to the side, in slight confusion. "Baykit" Azy began, her voice low "Is there something wrong?" She paused here and watched the large, fluffy kit, waiting for a reply...[/glow] [glow=red,2,300][/glow]

"This is where I was born," Baykit answered, for once calmly. She stared around with wide eyes and sniffed the air carefully. Nobody else seemed to be there. Obviously neither of her parents had been there for a long time, and she couldn't smell her sister either. "It's the old MarshClan camp. We stayed here for awhile before..." Before her parents had broken up. Abyssfang had disappeared, as far as Baykit was concerned, and Mintleaf... well, Azy already knew what her problem was. What had become of Sagekit, Baykit didn't know, but she wanted to find out. "Nobody seems to be here, though, so I guess we could stay here for now," she seemed to perk up again. "I watched Mintleaf and Abyssfang hunt around here before. It didn't look too hard; we could give it a try."

Azy listened intently to her friend, watching closely for some sign. 'Well, it is Baykit' she reminded herself gently, 'She may not be bright, but at least she's my friend. "If you keep thundering around" Azy began, slightly bemused, "We wont catch much of anything." A heartbeat later, "Who's Abyssfang?" By the look on her face, Azy had turned very much into a curious kit. Her ears were erect and she was staring directly into the blue eyes Baykit...

The beginning of a smile began to form on Baykit's face. She would try hunting anyways. But it was quickly wiped away when Abyssfang was mentioned, and she realized that she had spoken carelessly. You must never tell who your father is, Mintleaf's words echoed through her memory. She didn't know why it was important, and despite her mother's strange behavior, Baykit still found that she trusted her advice more than any other cat. "He... I don't know," she lied quickly, turning away from Azy. She was the worst liar in the world, and she couldn't stand not telling the truth, but this seemed important.

[glow=red,2,300] Azy's head cocked, giving her the appearance of a rather confused dog. 'She really is a horrible liar' The voice were back, this one was Zeev. His deep, measured voice gave him a away. 'Oh just shut up, you're not real' she reminded herself with a feeble flick of her ears. "You know that you can tell me about..."her voice trailed away as she searched for the proper word, or words, to describe what she meant. "Well, you know, things. Your life here I mean, except Mintleaf." 'Because we all know how much I hate her' Azy added silently. i=It was best if Baykit didn't know, not that it was hard miss... [/glow]

Baykit glanced back at Azy. She wanted to tell her, but obedience had been pounded into her. Abyssfang had made sure of that. She had to listen to him and Mintleaf. Baykit shrugged. "My life here..." she paused to think. Nothing particularly amazing came to mind. "Well, I had a sister... Sagekit. I was kinda hoping she would be here, but," she shrugged again. "Anyways, it wasn't really that interesting. Just living with my family. Pretty boring. Hey," she suddenly realized something. "You had a family too, right?" She looked at Azy, eager for a story. Her mind very much worked like that of a kit.

Azy sighed heavily, but then shook her head. "I'd have to say the same. I just lived with my family. I had two brothers and a sister and that's pretty much the end of it. She paused and shrugged. There was no use in telling Baykit about her sob story of a life. 'My parents loved each other so much they hated one another but left anyway. Gad and Zeev well they left too. And Lily... her thoughts trailed away with yet another shrug. She turned back to Baykit with a discomfit countenance. "Is Sage-whatever supposed to be here?" She never could figure out Clan names and didn't really want to either...

"Sagekit," Baykit corrected. "You know, Baykit, Sagekit... Because we're kits." She grinned, feeling happy that for once she had figured out something that Azy hadn't. "I don't know if she's here. She might be here, since it's not like she had anywhere she had to go. Or she could not be here, because she had no reason to stay."

"Ahhh...the Clan thing again" it was merely a statement. Somehow, Azy knew they would eventually make thier way back to the Clan thing. The ginger-and-white she-cat shrugged her angular shoulders with a little laugh. "These Clans, were there rules? I get the name thing halfway, but happens after you're not a kit anymore? Does your name change, then?" A strange, and kit-like curiosity filled Azy to the brim. Since the Clans had first been mentioned Azy wanted to know everything she could learn about them. It was only natural that she would...

"Yeah," Baykit answered eagerly. For once she felt smart! "When a kit turns six moons, the last part of their name will change to paw. So I'd be Baypaw and Sagekit'd be Sagepaw. I'm almost apprentice aged, so I guess I get to change mine soon." She puffed out her chest proudly, even though she hadn't ever lived in a Clan. "Then once your training's over, the last part of your name changes to something else. Like Mintleaf and Abyssfang. At one point they were Mintpaw and Abysspaw." The thought of her parents as apprentices was strange. She tried to imagine them just a bit older than she was, but it was impossible. "Then if you become leader, the last part of your name changes to star. Like Baystar!" She shouted her leader name gleefully.

Azy laughed freely, as if she were like Baykit-young and free. "Well, then, I suppose I should have a warrior name too, shouldn't I?" Azy asked after her bout of laughter had died away. What fun this pair had together, like they were sister. Another question died away in Azy's throat. She could see it all clearly now. Baykit had begun to fade away and Azy was shrinking to much smaller size. Baykit had morphed into Lily before she took ill. With a violent shake of her head, Azy came back and gave Baykit an award winning smile...

Baykit grinned at Azy. For a moment, the other she-cat had seemed troubled, but she quickly gave Baykit a smile. She had probably just imagined it. "Yeah. But I don't think Azy works as a name beginning." She stopped to think. "How about... Robinheart!" It was the first name that came to mind.
((Blech, sucky post.))

Azy thought on the name for a moment. The robin with it's manly little red chest and white throat and wings to fly. How she would love to fly but alas she had no wings to leave the ground. She nodded enthusiastically. "Of course, Baykit" replied the she-cat still nodding her head. "What do you want your warrior name to be?" All of a sudden Azy had turned her dark gaze to Baykit and stared at the gray kit with wide eyes and a slightly open mouth...
((He he Like Robin Hood! S'not that bad, it got the point the across))
