ooc - I do, Shattered. I think it would be fun, even if it is cliche. =D Cliches can sometimes be fun.

[[Indeed. Plague would definately 'look the other way' if it meant making his sister and deputy happy. He's still guilty about how his dad treated Spect. Poor Plaguers. Jaida: get ready with Meadow afterwards, 'kay?]] and if there's something wrong Plaguestar couldn't help but smile at the sight of his Clan. Small though they were, he had noticed at the Gathering that they still outnumbered the other three Clans, namely in apprentices. It was time that three of them--Baypaw, his half-sister, Darkpaw, and Dumia-- were apprenticed. But what were the words again? Ah, never mind. StarClan could bite their tongues if they didn't like what he said. It was the thought that counted, right? "It's hightime that Baypaw, Darkpaw, and Dumia were apprenticed," the young tabby said kindly, nodding in turn to each kit. "Would you three step forward, please?" Without waiting, Plaguestar launched into the ceremony. "Darkpaw, I will mentor you in the ways of a warrior; Baypaw, Robinheart shall be you mentor. And, Dumia," the creme-and-dark brown tabby smiled at the she-kit. "Would you mind if I changed your name to Mirrorpaw? Either way, Spectrumfire will be your mentor." He smiled gently. Of course, Dumia--now Mirrorpaw-- had no say in the matter of her name. But it was nice to feign it, wasn't it? Who would've guessed it? [[For once! Plague actually showed some not-nice-ness!]]

[Cliches are fun!] Shatteredsky lifted her eyes to her brother as he called out all the apprentices of the Clan. Plaugestar decided to take Darkpaw, while giving Baypaw to Robinheart and Dumia -now Mirrorpaw- to Spectrumfire. She was almost sad she had not recieved an apprentice herself, but she really didn't need one. She was still young, and since she had no proper training herself, was still learning the ways of the Medicine Cat.
And she was learning the ways of the Medicine Cat in more than one way too. When the ceremony was done, she couldn't take her eyes off of Spectrumfire.

Baypaw bounced forward and listened to Plaguestar. She blinked in slight confusion. Mintleaf had taught her the proper words for a ceremony before she had decided to abandon her kits, and what Plaguestar had said wasn't them. But if her leader had said them, they must be the right ones. The kit-like apprentice squealed with delight when it was announced that Robinheart would be her mentor. "Yay!" she chirped, bounding over to join her mentor. "When do we start? Can we go out now?"

Feeling his heart lift with pride, Spectrumfire's eyes went to the she-cat by Darkpaw's side -- the young, pretty gray and black femme, Mirrorpaw. She was a newcomer, of course, and, as far as he knew, not related to any one he'd known before, which made him warmer towards her. After all, he didn't know her parents; how could he be biased? Hey, Mirrorpaw, he mewed warmly, smiling slightly.
As an afterthought, he flicked his green eyes Shatteredsky's way. Immediately, though, he returned the gaze to Mirrorpaw. He didn't want anyone to think he liked the way the black medicine cat looked, because that would be totally incorrect ..
xx
Darkpaw lifted his head, eyes shining brightly with enthusiasm. Imagine that! He was now the apprentice of the Clan's leader, the big, muscular light cream-brown tabby with the bright blue eyes -- eyes like his father. That reminded him to gather his sister and go to the fields where they'd lived previously -- this was what flashed through his mind as he touched noses to Plaguestar.

I wanna live my life[/b] Plaguestar smiled as he touched his nose to Darkpaw's. He was rather fond of the young tomcat, had been ever since they'd met that cold, snowy day. The tabby noticed the look in his apprentice's eyes: Darkpaw wanted to go... somewhere. To see his parents, perhaps? It wasn't unreasonable for him to go see them, Plaguestar reasoned. Quietly, so that no other ears could hear, the elder tom whispered, "You and Mirrorpaw can go see your parents after this, if you want. But, tomorrow, come sunhigh, I'll be needing to train you a bit. Agreed?" His blue eyes smiled gently at the youngster. Wanna give you everything[/b] [[Foxx: after Dark & Mirror find Shadow & Shroud's bodies, they can have a heart-to-heart session about dads. Because Plague's dad sucked ass]]

ooc - Yes. Yes he did. But, y'know, makes for an angsty character, right? And Shadow had so much angst in him, he probably passed on gallons of it to his kids. Too busy to reply IC. (Too busy. Hah. Yeah, right. Because you know, I totally have a life.)

xx no one will ever see this side reflected Dumia - now Mirrorpaw, grinned slightly at her new mentor, Spectrumfire. She turned her blue eyes directly onto his. They were a pretty emerald color. Hey, Spectrumfire. Again, she thought of her parents. Mirrorpaw twitched her ear slightly. Do you need me to do something? She felt obliged to ask, after all, he was her mentor.

Robinheart smiled a small, if not sad smile, while Baypaw bounded around her in an excited huff. So she was Baypaw's mentor. Truthfully she'd been expecting it but the problem was was that she didn't know how to train Baypaw, or any other apprentice for that matter. She'd taught herself most everything, with the occasional help from her brothers, but most everything she'd learned had been through experience. This is going to be one long ride she thought before answering Baypaw's many questions "We'll start tomorrow" she informed her apprentice softly. " Right now we all need a little rest. so go and sleep" Even though you probably don't need it she added to herself. "That's an...order, I guess..."

Darkpaw glanced up at Plaguestar, surprise clearly written on his young face. How'd he know? Blinking and glancing up, he mewed, Of course, Plaguestar. Thank you. Glancing to Mirrorpaw, he nodded towards the camp exit. Uneasiness unfurled like a coil of tough rope within his chest and belly, and was now writhing madly, like an infuriated serpent. Alright, Mirrorpaw -- let's go see Mom and Dad.

"But I'm not tired!" the gray apprentice protested. "What's the point of going to sleep? I'm ready to go out now!" Baypaw gave a little bounce to prove her point. Her eyes glittered with mischief as she added, "I suppose 'don't jump into the water' was also an order." She was, of course, referring to the time when she and Robinheart had gone to the base of the Whispering Falls back when they were loners. Robinheart had warned her not to jump in, but Baypaw had wanted to try swimming and had thus jumped in, nearly drowning herself before Robinheart pulled her out. Baypaw had found the whole event quite fun, and would gladly jump into another river. The gray apprentice pounced on her mentor playfully. Mentor or not, she still thought of the other she-cat as a friend and an equal, not someone she had to respect.

Robinheart groaned lowly, almost a growl but not quite. How could one she-cat have such boundless energy? She gave another heavy sigh before she spoke.
"And I understand that you wanna go now" Robinheart explained " But I-oh never mind, we can go when the other apprentices return from, er, whatever they're doing ." The she-cat sat down and began to groom her chest, refusing to reply to her "apprentice"'s other question. Was it an order? Not really, it was simply a friendly suggestion. I don't know how she does it Robinheart said to herself, nodding slightly But I wanna know.
If she had that kind of energy, there was no telling what she might do. In that case, Robinheart knew she was going to have to watch Baypaw a bit more closely. Baypaw might just be a troublemaker, not that she wasn't already but just not in a bad way.
"It wasn't not an order" Robinheart said, maybe that would confuse her. " Look at "don't jump in the raging torrent of black water" as friendly advice..."

It wasn't not... Wait, what? Baypaw blinked in confusion. Oh well, the point was that they were going out sooner. "Yay!" she squealed, running around her mentor in a small victory dance. "Can Darkpaw and Mirrorpaw come too? It would be fun!" The kit-like apprentice stared at her mentor, eagerly waiting for a reply.
((Bleh, suckyy. Oh well.))

Robinheart laughed as her large, kit-like apprentice ran in a circle around her. "If their mentors say it's okay and even then..." her voice trailed away. Clan etiquette was not exactly her forte, in fact she wasn't exactly sure what clans did! "Actually" she began muttering "I'm not sure what's supposed to happen after that..."
((Bleh. Sucky posts suck))

Baypaw stopped bouncing around and tilted her head sideways. "After what?" she asked.
