==I'm so bored, I think we'll play "apprentice the lot" now. and now again i've found myself Plaguestar smiled as he entered MireClan's camp--his camp-- while the moon sank ever lower in the gradually-brightening sky. The Gathering had gone well. Granted, he'd had to deal with that most hateful, loathesome of she-cats, Mintleaf, as WillowClan's leader, but, well, she was a minor irritant. She couldn't touch him, no, or his Clan! Not now, at least. so far down, away from the sun But it had annoyed him that MireClan had so few warriors, especially compared to the other three Clans. It was time they got their apprentices trained and made into full warriors. Without a second thought, he leapt onto the Highrock and called out, "Let all the cats who call MireClan home gather beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" True, they weren't the ancestral words, but they would do, given the state of things. that shines into the darkest place

ooc - Sucky post, I know. -sigh- Not my most museful day, you could say. Trailing behind his pale tabby leader, the deputy of MireClan was deep in thought. His green eyes were focused not on hs leader, but on another image; instead, he was back at his old home in the Twisted River, Violetlight at his side, Kitsune, Icefire and Silverlight at his paws. Ah .. were those the good days, or were these?
So now he knew. His children were in seperate Clans; his beloved female was torn from him; all he had left was his Clan, and by StarClan, he was going to make the best of this. Sitting at the foot of the Highrock, he awaited the rest of his Clan to gather.
xx
A sleek black feline slipped into camp, ears ringing with the mews of the Gathering he'd just left. He had a feeling he, Baykit and Dumia would formally be made apprentices, with their chosen names, Baypaw, Darkpaw and Mirrorpaw. Glancing behind hm, looking for the other cats, he shrugged and sat below Plaguestar, wondering who would be his mentor and how his apprenticeship would go.

Hearing her leader's call, Shatteredsky bounded over to the HighRock. They had just arrived home from the Gathering, but it was still a good time for a Clan meeting. She couldn't read Plaugestar's face to see what he wanted to discuss, but since nothing truly important happened at the Gathering, she figured it couldn't be anything bad.
She sat next to Spectrumfire, tail tucked neatly over her black paws. There was something about him that seemed sad, but like Plaugestar, his face was impossible to read. "Are you feeling alright?" was all she could ask the tom. It wasn't a terrible question to ask him, but she was medicine cat, so she had a right to know.

Halfway back to the warrior's den, the rather thin creature that was Robinheart heard Plaguestar yowl. With a low growl of protest, for the she-cat was tired, she turned around and marched to the edge of the crowd. She was tired and grouchy and the voices were coming back. She'd been doing so well lately with ignoring them but she was exhausted almost to the point of collapse. Just leave her father growled The Clans are not worth your time, Asphodel SHUT UP! Robinheart growled to her father. Even now she could she his large, dark frame flit on the edge of the group. I am Robinheart, I am Robinheart, I am Robinheart she told herself agian and again. I am Robinheart...

The Clan's deputy lifted his head as three other cats followed him nonchalantly; or, what seemed like carelessness. The medicine cat, Shatteredsky, a female warrior, Robinheart, and the young black-pelted apprentice-to-be, Darkpaw entered the clearing after him. Hearing Shatteredsky's question, he turned to her tentatively, eyes bright and round as though he were thoughtless and calm. Yes .. yes, I'm fine. In fact .. I think I'm better than ever. His voice tone was light and nearly cheerful; he felt better than he had in a long, long time. Just saying those words helped him push thoughts of his mate and kits to the side. After all, he was a MarshClan warrior now; no, he was more than a MarshClan warrior; he was the MarshClan deputy! No one, other than Plaguestar and Shatteredsky, the children of Morninglight, a she-cat he remembered clearly, was in higher confidence than he; and he knew he could be responsible enough to get Violetlight out of his head. Right .. ?

Shatteredsky tilted her head curiously at him, looking at his face. His eyes were round and bright, cheerful almost. She found it amazing that could change their expression and tone of voice in a matter of seconds. Despite his reassurance that he was fine, she didn't believe it. If there was something truly bugging him, but she decided if he didn't want to share, then so be it. Yet she couldn't help but add in, ever so "Medicine Cat-ly":
"Well, if you don't feel good any time later, just stop by my den. You know where it is."

xx no one will ever see this side reflected Shadows reflecting on crystalline eyes, Dumia stepped out of the dim light and into the creamy beams of dawn. Her blue eyes searched the cats with calm interest. Dumia swished her tail excitedly, the euphoria from the gathering starting to wear off. Running a forepaw over her ear, she padded over to her brother. Hey, Draik. She grinned mischeviously and batted his ear with a snow white paw. That was pretty cool.

[Ha, yeah. I don't think she fully understands the concept that Medicine Cats can't have mates.]

ooc - That's why her grandfather and father were leaders, not medicine cats. xD Oh, and Jayde, howzabout Draik and Dumia go and find Shadow and Shroud's bodies after the ceremony? xx Draik wrinkled his nose playfully at his sister. You said it. Suddenly, at the mention of the Gathering, his heart started to slow in a crestfallen way. A slight tingle ran up his spine; he suddenly realized what he and Dumia needed to do, one last time, before the deal was sealed for good, and they could never see either Shadow or Shroud again and love them as family. Dumi .. he whispered, We need to go find Mom and Dad. You know .. and say good-bye. After our apprentice ceremonies. xx Spectrumfire, too naive and absentminded to hear the innuendo in Shatteredsky's voice, just nodded absently, mouth curving slightly at the thought. Maybe I will. Thank you, he mewed simply, wondering about it. The pretty, sleek black femme with brilliant emerald eyes .. she reminded him of Violetlight only slightly. What a strange thought ..

((Oh my. When Violet finds out...))
Baypaw--kit--paw, she wasn't sure just then, padded into the camp after her Clan. She glanced around and saw Robinheart turn around and go to the meeting. The large gray kit grinned at her friend, oblivious as ever to her troubled expression. She looked around and saw Darkpaw, but he seemed to be talking to another she-cat. Baykit wondered who she was. She'd seen her before, somewhere, but she couldn't remember where. Apparently Darkpaw knew her. A strange emotion pricked at her stomach, and she turned away quickly. She would go talk to Robinheart. The young cat trotted over to her best friend, completely forgetting the other apprentice. "Heya Robinheart!" she said cheerfully, sitting down and facing Plaguestar. "Do you know what's going on? Are we going to become official apprentices? Maybe you'll be my mentor!" She looked at the warrior with shining eyes.

Robinheart flicked her ears absent mildly at Baykit. With a heavy sigh the two-toned she-cat nodded slowly. "Not really sure, a Clan gathering I think" she replied still nodding. " I hope I will be your mentor. There aren't a lot of cats here who could handle you." That last sentence seemed to put her in a better mood, a much better mood in fact! She was a warrior and now she could Baykit's mentor! Her heart was pounding away in her chest and her pulse was in her ears. She turned her gaze away from Baykit and back to Plagustar, waiting for his next words quite nervously.

xx no one will ever see this side reflected Dumia nodded, more to herself than anyone. You're right. We should. She winced slightly at the thought of her parents. Shroud and Shadow. Her parents. Dumia sighed and pressed her side to Draik's.
