A gray she-cat lay in the shade of a giant palm. Its twisted limbs cut through the blue sky, which was dappled with a few puffy clouds. Her pelt was ruffled by a warm breeze, which carried the smell of water from the Twisting River. She took a deep breath and sighed, closing her eyes happily.
It was one of the rare times she had been able to get away from her kits. Adjusting to life as a loner had been challenging, but now she rather liked it. No borders to defend, no wars. All she had to do was feed herself and her family and live. Violetlight opened her eyes, wondering where her mate was. Maybe watching the kits, she thought. It's about time he took a turn at it. They didn't really need to be watched all the time anymore, but it was better to have them supervised. It was a good thing they had Minnowpool and Eclipse nearby to dump them on, even if they didn't want to watch them. Otherwise Violetlight would have gone crazy.
((Hmm. I suppose this would be before the time jump. Or maybe near the end of it. Whatever, just reply Fox!))

you can't quit until you try you can't live until you die you can't learn to tell the truth until you learn to lie you can't breathe until you choke you gotta laugh at every joke there's nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive The sunshine was warm, soft, and pleasant to the touch. If he had lain among the grasses and simply settled there lazily, he would feel like a lion in the savannas, soaking up the warm rays of life forever and ever, not ever willing himself to move. Spectrumfire wasn't the lazy type. He leapt down, feeling incredibly emotional at this moment. His kits were most likely with his sister or his mate's cousin; he knew Violetlight was here somewhere, for her sweet scent was still fresh on the breeze. Long ago, the ValleyClan aura around her had faded, just as his MarshClan scent had gone. Now their smells had blended with all the Clans, for they'd lived on all the Clans' territories. They had a pleasant family; Spectrumfire, the ideal father. Violetlight, the beautiful wife and sweet mother. The three precocious children, all of them more trouble than they were worth, in Spectrumfire's loving opinion. Eclipse and Minnowpool, the formerly unwanted and grumpy aunts who decided to take an interest in their kin. He had wanted a break from the ruckus of his family, however; they were all tiring, especially Icefire. StarClan, if Kitsune and Silverlight were as bad as his oddly colored, oddly personalitied son of his, he was sure he'd be the same color as his gray tabby daughter. Halting to stay with Violetlight, he smiled and approached her with ease. Hey, Violetlight, he greeted, tilting his head praisingly. Isn't it a nice day? And quiet, he added pointedly, referring, of course, to Icefire, Silverlight and Kitsune not being around. He stood beside her, still drinking her slim form in as it was shrouded in a misty gold sunshine. just open your eyes just open your eyes and see that life is beautiful

((-sigh- Sorry if this post is sucky.))
Violetlight looked up and saw her mate, Spectrumfire. He was the perfect mate. Handsome, fatherly, and with the most amazing green eyes. She wouldn't leave him for anything. "Hello, Spectrumfire," she purred, inviting him to join her with a flick of her tail. "It is a nice day, isn't it? I haven't seen the kits yet." She was only half-joking. It was a nice change from having kits climbing all over her. She closed her eyes, enjoying the contrast between the warm sun and the cool shade. When she opened them again, she looked directly at her mate. "Have you done anything interesting lately?" she asked, already knowing the answer.
