[/blockquote]Miss independent
Miss self-sufficient
Miss keep your distance, no
Miss on her own
Miss almost grown
Miss never let a man help her off her throne
So, by keeping her heart protected
She'd never ever feel rejected
Little miss apprehensive
Said ooh, she fell in love
Demon lay down in the craggy confines that comprised GorgeClan's nursery. The young tabby sighed as she cast a glance at her swollen belly. Kits. Of all the things she'd do in life, she just had to go and get pregnant with Crimsonstar's kits. The red-orange she-cat smirked at that. Moons ago, she'd've clawed the ears off of any cat who'd said that she'd fall in love.
The twinge in her belly that she'd felt earlier sharpened, and Demon allowed herself a gasp as she turned her thoughts to other matters.
The kits were coming.
What is this feeling taking over?
Thinking no one could open the door
Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real
What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive?
Goodbye, old you, when love, is true
Crimsonstar was a good tom. A bit too steeped in tradition, maybe, but...
Well, he liked her, didn't he? He was willing to risk his clanmates' dislike for her. And Demon liked that. She did.
Not that she'd ever tell him that in front of anyone. No. Demon was the sort of she-cat who believed that her personal feelings shouldn't get in the way of things. She was a sharp-tongued she-cat with sharper claws; no one dared question that. And she was content here, for once; she'd never had a permanent home, had never wanted one.
She'd been born in the Faithful Shadows, in a time where loyalties were vague, shadowy things. She'd declared herself independent from Stormfaith's gang when she was barely seven moons old, along with her longtime friends and partners-in-crime, Shroud and Shadow. When they'd joined MountainClan after the Shadows's demise, she'd left her love-struck friends for a life alone and, when that had failed and had nearly cost Shroud her life, she'd met Crimsonstar--then Redblood-- and had argued with him. Later, she'd run into him again, then left in the same state as before. And now, here was irony. After Shroud and Shadow had had their kits, after she'd watched Draik and Dumia grow up and join MireClan to become clan warriors, she'd made an allegiance, had mated with Crimsonstar and was happy to stay there.
But, again, she was happy. So what did it matter?
Misguided heart
Miss play it smart
Miss if you wanna use that line, you better not start, no
But she miscalculated
She didn't wanna end up jaded
And this miss decided not to miss out on true love
--time passage because I'm lazy... =P--
So, by changing a misconception
She went in a new direction
And found inside, she felt a connection
She fell in love
Two kits. Two kits, a tom and a she, lay curled up next to Demon, snug in the curve of her belly. Wordlessly, she nuzzled the tom, admiring his swirling red-orange pelt. Handsome, if a little small. Odd pelt, though. She liked it. With a wily smile, she spoke. "Chaoskit." Chaoskit. It seemed a fitting name for him, given what his parents had dealt with over their lives.
And as for the she-kit...
She looked a lot like her father. Bigger than Chaoskit, with darker red fur that fit a normal tabby pattern. On her paws, the fur lightened to a brilliant orange, more like hers. Demon smiled. "Hellkit," she said with a bit of a chuckle. It was like both her kits were reincarnations of her and Crimsonstar, if in appearance alone.
What is this feeling taking over?
Thinking no one could open the door
Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real
What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive?
Goodbye, old you, when love, is true (when love, is true)
She couldn't wait to see what they were like when they were older. With another chuckle, she called out, "Oi! Crimson! Ya wanna s'prise?"
When miss independent walked away
No time for love that came her way
She looked in the mirror and thought today
What happened to miss no longer afraid?
It took some time for her to see
How beautiful love could truly be
No more talk of why can't that be me
I'm so glad I've finally seen
