Baykit trotted through the undergrowth, glancing sideways at the river she was following upstream. From somewhere up ahead she heard a strange roaring sound. She slowed, then slopped, tilting her head to one side to listen. What was it? Curiosity filled her, and she couldn't keep herself from continuing onwards. The trail through the undergrowth she had been following veered away from the river, so Baykit pushed her way through the bushes towards the river.
When she emerged, her coat was covered sticks and leaves, and her fur stuck out. But she didn't seem to notice; instead she stared with round eyes at what was ahead. "Woooow!" she meowed, looking around for Azy. "Azy, look what I found!" She trotted forward, a bit closer to the torrent of water.

Azy loped behind Baykit gracefully as she had fallen behind the large kit. She was, quite honestly, in no rush to be any place but kits well who knows with them. She had been at an easy pace until she heard her companions drawn out "Wow" after that she was moving faster. The branches and underbrush catching her already shaggy and unkempt looking pelt. As she broke through the bracken, the green-eyed she-cat soon saw what Baykit meant. Truly this waterfall, this whispering waterfall, was a beautiful sight. "Woooooow, Baykit" her voice was soft, now becoming like that of deranged mother "Is very correct indeed. And please stay away from the waters edge. What if slipped and fell in?What if I had to rush in and save you?" She'd added that after a moment of complete silence. Well except the sound of the rushing torrent of dark water...

Baykit's round blue eyes widened even more when Azy mentioned falling in. But, rather than being fearful, they were round with the promise of an adventure. "You really think that could happen?" she asked, looking back at the water and seriously considering "accidentally" falling in. After all, they were at the bottom of the waterfall, so she couldn't fall off it onto those spiky rocks. The she-kit's fluffy tail quivered with excitement.
((Baykit isn't the brightest.))

Azy chuckled, more to herself than toward Baykit. What a very strange kit? Most kits were quite content to stay near their mother, then again Baykit's mother was...not very nice. She nodded "Yes, quite possible." The bi-colored she-cat nodded as she spoke, her eyes also seemed wider from the excitement of adventure. It also seemed that her pulse was pounding in her ears. "And who knows, if the currents strong you could end somewhere else" she added this after a light-hearted sigh. 'And then I'd have to find you' she said to herself. Despite her own warning, the she-cat moved closer to peek at said torrent of water...

"Somewhere else," Baykit echoed, her eyes dilated until there was barely any blue left. She looked at the river and saw the churning water. Maybe she didn't want to fall in. "Can you swim?" she asked suddenly, still staring at the water. She was now only a tail length from the edge.

Again, the two-toned she-cat laughed. Her dark gaze had brightened up considerably since thier little discovery. She felt better to boot but well sometime certain cats had that effect on her. She nodded slowly in an affirmation.
"Yeah, somewhere else" she repeated, her voice monotone. "And I'm sure I can, but I wouldn't like to try it that water" she added this quickly, still nodding, as a kind of reassurance.

"Oh, I think you would," Baykit meowed, her eyes glittering with playful mischief. "But don't worry, I wouldn't push you in." She backed away from the edge a few paces, paused to get ready, then rushed forward. "Yahooo!" she shouted as she jumped into the water. Her head went under immediately, and she rolled underwater before digging her claws into the bottom to stay upright. That was not very smart of me, she realized as she stared around. Everything looked fuzzy, but she could tell where the surface was. At least she had taken a big breath of air, but even it was starting to run out.
Adrenaline rushed through her and she pushed off from the bottom and kicked towards the surface. I'm not a very good swimmer, she thought, but was completely confident that she wouldn't drown. Her head broke the surface and she took a deep breath of air, but before she could look for Azy she had been pulled under. This current is strong... she thought Maybe I'll end up somewhere else.

For a moment, the same look of mischief crossed Azy maw. That was only a moment because in the next it turned from mischief to shock and horror as Baykit plunged into the torrent of water. Azy saw that familiar blue-gray head bob above the surface then get pulled back under. Then, Azy's long, slim frame pitched forward and went into the dark waters. Underneath, when she opened her eyes, it was fuzzy but she saw the mass of the kit underneath the water and kicked herself forward toward Baykit, toward her friend.'Please' Azy thought desperately, her paws thrashing in the current 'Please don't let her die. Please let me reach my friend...'

Baykit stared around underwater. She could feel herself being pulled downstream, and had to kick to keep from rolling. As she looked around, she noticed a dark shape coming towards her. She stared at it in confusion. It took awhile before she realized that it was Azy. She smiled at her, not realizing that it would be too blurry for her to see. "Hi Az-" she called out stupidly, but was cut off as she choked on water. She started to cough, but that only made her swallow more water. For the first time since she had jumped into the water, she was afraid. Everything started to get fuzzier, darker...

Azy felt the fear rise up from somewhere deep within. With that fear, ever rising, she saw-in the dark fuzziness-Baykit open her mouth as if trying to greet her. A jolt of adrenaline passed through her small and slender frame. She had to keep control, at least for now. Using that stock and store of energy that the adrenaline had provided, the slim she-cat propelled forward yet again, her maw slightly open, yet not letting air out. She had to save Baykit! 'Please' she kept begging 'Please let me reach Baykit!' Even her claws were unsheathed, anything to grab onto the kit, to grab onto her friend... ((!!!NO!!! She can't die! NO!NO!NO!*breaks down in tears*She's Azy's only friend!*sobs some more*

((Kill your own charries, Diz. Baykit's too wonderfully stupid to die yet.))
As everything faded into darkness, Baykit saw Azy swimming towards her. She kicked towards her as hard as she could with the last of her energy, the world spinning around her. Or maybe she was spinning; it was hard to tell. Either way, it didn't matter, because she found herself going numb. Her eyes closed, and everything faded away.
((Don't get your hopes up, Diz. She's only unconscious. Now, the question is, should she be afraid of water from now on, or be too dumb for that?))

Azy felt her heart soar as Baykit propelled forward but then it dropped again as the kit floated into unconsciousness. More adrenaline pumped through her body and that gave her all she needed. With on last great effort, she moved forward. She clamped her jaws on thick, blue-gray fur and moved for the surface.
It was now that she realized how heavy Baykit was, but she wouldn't stop until they were both safe. After what seemed like hours-even days or maybe years- the ginger-and-white she-cat broke the surface of the water with Baykit now lodged between her teeth. Azy looked around wildly for a few moments, almost unaware of how far they had drifted from their initial place by the falls. It was no use going against the current, though it seemed the worst of it was over.
The battle for land soon commenced but the pair, one heavy and unconscious, the other thin and trembling but awake, finally set paws on dry ground. Azy felt her whole entire body tremble with fear "B-Baykit?" She nearly screeched, the fear cresting in her... ((Ah, for Baykit, I'd say too dumb for that! No offense intended, of course))

Baykit felt a breeze brushing against her nose. She got halfway through sneezing before coughing up a mouthful of water. The large kit stood unsteadily, her legs trembling. She could see the shape of another cat. "Azy?" she asked, then doubled over and barfed up several mouthfuls of water. She then straightened and sighed, feeling infinitely better and, considering what had just happened, pretty good. She could now see clearly again, and noted that they were on the bank again, but not in the same place. Using what little brain power she had, she realized that she must've gone unconscious and during that time Azy had pulled her out of the water, and that they had drifted downstream. That was where her insight ended. "Where are we?"
((Baykit isn't modeled after me. That was Hiddenstream (and only sorta-kinda), and she's dead. I was also thinking she was too dumb.))
