[[Icefire ain't. Found him a great theme, too. "Devour", by Shinedown. It's partly your fault I started listening to it, Foxx. =)]] Take it and take it and take it and take it all Take is and take it and take it until you take us all Smash it and crash it and thrash it and trash it You know they're only toys
Icefire's smug smirk didn't change at his father's answer, the tom merely nodding. He didn't bother to acknowledge Violetlight's answer; not yet, at least. He could deal with her later. After all, there were infinite ways to deal with a traitor in WillowClan; who knew when he'd next get to see Spectrumfire like this, without any of MireClan's brawny warriors at his back? He ignored the scents of his sisters for now, and the scent of a StreamClan apprentice as well. He wanted this moment to be between himself and his father. "Yeah, I'm WillowClan's medicine cat," Icefire sneered, pacing around towards Spectrumfire's back. "What of it? Mintleaf's a complete moron; she trusts me first and foremost. That's more than you or Violetlight ever did." His tail twitched from side to side as he contemplated his next move. He could attack now, in his own way. Not with claws, of course, but with his gift, the one thing about him (other than his mind) that he was glad for every day. But something in Icefire wanted to see what his parents, or even his sisters, would do. Kitsune probably wouldn't do much; he'd taught her a lesson last time, hadn't he? And Silverpaw was a coward, too. Not much better than Violetlight or Mintleaf in that regard. "You never answered my other question, dad," Icefire said after a moment, hate burning in his purple eyes. "What's a traitor?"
Try it you'll like it don't hide it don't fight it, just let it out Steal and shoot it and kill it or take another route Take it and take it and take it You know they're only toys

I love that song! =D It suits him well, too. ^^ i am aware now of how everything's gonna be fine one day, too late, i'm in hell i am prepared now seems everyone's gonna be fine one day, too late, just as well Spectrumfire straightened his spine, glaring into Icefire's eyes and shivering because they were so much like Violetlight's... only his were cold, dark, and sinister. When his young son told him about Mintleaf trusting him more than his own parents, he didn't deny it. They had both known the terror their daughters shared of Icefire, and even they harbored some secret fear of the little Spectrumfire look-a-like.
i feel the dream in me expire and there's no one left to blame it on i hear you label me a liar 'cause i can't seem to get this through you say it's over i can sigh again ; yeah try to stay sober feels like i'm dying ; here Instead, he smirked and stepped forward, towering over his son and glaring down at him with no affection left in his long emerald eyes. A traitor, my dear boy, he meowed with clarity in his strong voice, Is a warrior with no respect for his Clan or his betters. A traitor is a cat who disregards the pain he brings others. A traitor is a cat who willingly harms those who are his kin...
i am aware now of how everything's gonna be fine one day, too late, i'm in hell i am prepared now seems everyone's gonna be fine one day, too late, just as well Sweeping his tail around the ground and rolling his eyes, Spectrumfire challenged in a dry tone of voice, Now, my son, which of us is the real traitor... me... or you?
and i'm not scared now i must assure you, you're never gonna get away and i'm not scared now... and i'm not scared now... no

[Sounds good. I like that song. Also Last Night by Skillet?] Viperpaw followed slowly as Vixenpaw lead him into the brush, listening carefully as she explained the bizzar (SP?) situation. family?! he thought, slightly shocked at the idea. So, uh, this is your family? Interesting. Noticing that she looked uneasy, Viperpaw rubbed up against her.

Sorry, Hidden. =| I tend to get testy easily... but you know that. ^^; I don't know, Hidden... I guess. Obviously. Or I infer. -shrug- That's all we can do since you, me an' Diz were too lazy to rp them. I've never heard that song - I'll go look it up on YouTube later. =3 I've heard of the band, though, Leafy. Vixenpaw was surprised at Viperpaw, but not at all displeased. Her eyelids slipped over her large turquoise eyes as she confirmed in a hushed tone, Yeah... I know. Weird... but I swear, after this... I will never see them as family again. Her voice froze and turned brittle like the fragile branches of a dying tree in the grasp of frost. Turning to him, sincerity was set in her face like stone. I didn't want to come, not really, but Viperpaw... I feel like something's wrong. In fact... I know it, she whispered, eyes shifting to the other cats as they quarreled. Then she froze as Spectrumfire challenged Icefire, staring his son in the eyes he'd inherited from their beautiful mother, their look-a-like pelts bristling with anger. It was very odd to see that kitten, a perfect blend of the justice-minded tom and the sweet, caring she-cat, to stare at the three side by side, and then realize that that cruel, twisted small cat was their son. The look in Spectrumfire's eyes was kind of like the look of a martyr; he was giving up. Did he know about Icefire's crippling, terrifying power? If he did, why didn't he save himself, and not only himself, but the apprentices and his mate, as well? He would have had to know his other children -- and Viperpaw -- were here... right? Vixenpaw felt a sick rumbling storm in her belly, and, glancing at her friend with sudden, newly acquired bravery, she leapt from the brush, skidding across the earth and sending small clouds of pale dust to stream around her taut, golden brown body. Icefire! Stop tormenting these cats, your own kin, and go back to doing what medicine cats do best -- save lives! She had every doubt that Icefire would ignore her plea and then turn his vicious, but awe-inspiring mental force on either her or her mother or father. She could not protect Violetlight, she couldn't protect Spectrumfire, but she wouldn't let Silverpaw or Viperpaw get hurt because of him! Sending a glacier-melting stare his way, she stepped forward, wondering if her power even stood a chance against his. Huh. "Her power" -- she hadn't wanted to become used to the damned fire-flinging thing, but she had warmed up to it eventually -- why not, after all? It was unique, even if it was freakish! And... it was useful. She wouldn't tell Vastflame or Ivoryfeather, but what would it hurt if Viperpaw knew? Viperpaw. Did Icefire know he was here too!? Glancing behind her in a stupid battle of wills, her tortured green-blue eyes scanned the brush, wondering if he'd left, was coming or was still staring at her endangered family in awe. xx Spectrumfire's eyes widened as Kitsune leapt from the moor grass, her eyes flaring in defiance of the son he'd left to be deputy. He shook his head gently, wondering why his entire family had met here as if on some strange mental compulsion; now that his senses were aware, he realized she wasn't alone. Great... a three-Clan war. Straightening up, he looked his daughter over, feeling pleasure over his odd tawny kit, who looked nothing like either Spectrumfire or Violetlight, which is why they'd named her a name that wasn't like their's or her sibling's. Kitsune didn't take after Violetlight's black and gray family, and Spectrumfire... well... he had so many different pelt colors, it was hard to trace. He felt sadness well over him, as he realized what he'd really lost when he'd left. Leaving Silverpaw, Icefire and Kitsune was probably the stupidest thing he'd ever done; like how his parents had left him to fend for himself in a world of deceit. That reminded him of Abyssfang, of course... And that made him look at his little son with sudden realization of how much Icefire reminded him of his old mentor, the father of his leader. Abyssfang and Icefire... oh, StarClan... why hadn't he seen it before? Anger and utter confusion rose in his throat. Kitsune, stay back! He meowed, not knowing why, exactly, the words had tumbled out of his mouth -- consciously -- but sticking to them because somehow he felt they were true.

Icefire almost laughed when he saw Kitsune jump out of the bushes to confront him. She reeked of StreamClan now; funny, how his dear sister had run so far from him, only to return to see him now, just as he was about to rid them of their equally-dear father. The odd-coloured tom laughed harshly now, turning towards the she-cat with his head. "'Save lives'?" He echoed, amused by the idea. "Why, I am, Kitsune. I'm saving the most important life of all." Icefire paused, to let the idea sink in before he elaborated further. "I'm saving mine." With that, he focused all his anger at Spectrumfire, purple eyes alight with malice. He laughed, the sound in his high, cold voice sounding more like claws on rock than genuine happiness. "You want to save her?" He said, delight clear in his tone. "Then save yourself, dad." [[Must finish this thread. I'm ready for y'all to post now.]]

Did Icefire use his power? I'm just gonna assume he did, 'kay? -shoots Spectrumfire- a little bit of loneliness a little bit of disregard handful of complaints, but i can't help the fact that everyone can see these scars Spectrumfire rolled his eyes and stepped forward, ready to teach this ungrateful child of his a lesson, but his paw, posed to strike, froze in mid-air. A feeling of total paralysis poured over him like a winter's waterfall, freezing him completely and stunning him. That's how it captured him, at first, totally stunning his other emotions. Then... it hit him.
i am what i want you to want what i want you to feel but it's like no matter what i do, i can't convince you to just believe this is real so, let's go watchin' you turn your back like you always do face away and pretend that i'm not but i'll be here, 'cause you're all that i got A powerful blow -- with more force than any claws or teeth could inflict -- struck him where it felt like behind the head, slicing into his very skull like a bolt of jagged lightning.
i can't feel the way i did before don't turn your back on me - i won't be ignored! i can't feel the way i did before don't turn your back on me - i won't be ignored! Stumbling, he felt his thoughts fade away into nothing but flames. Yes. He saw flames everywhere, and he knew they weren't there. He woefully stared at Violetlight, eyes frighteningly blank and emotionless, though he felt overwhelming love and concern for her. He wanted to scream at her to do something, to help him, but there was nothing anyone could do.
i am a little bit insecure a little unconfident 'cause you don't understand, i do what i can sometimes i don't make sense i am what you never want to say but i never had a doubt it's like no matter what i do, i can't convince you for once just to hear me out! He wondered why Vixenpaw was staring at him so strangely; instead of panicking, she looked perplexed. Couldn't they see his insides were falling out, that his brain was slush and his skull splinters? Wasn't he a mess? Then he realized with a reluctant horror that all of this pain, all of this terrific agony, was inside of his head.
so, let's go watchin' you turn your back like you always do face away and pretend that i'm not but i'll be here 'cause you're all that i got No one could see what was wrong with him. Only he could... and the most frightening thing of all was that he saw no stars, saw no clear skies... only flames.
i can't feel the way i did before don't turn your back on me i won't be ignored time will tell the way it did before don't turn your back on me i won't be ignored Flames, engulfing everyone -- his daughters, his mate, the StreamClan apprentice beside his ginger child, his wicked son, and, yes, himself, and in the flames he saw himself. Saw himself as... as a monster. As Abyssfang. He only shook his head -- or he thought he did, for he could hardly move for all of this terrible force that slashed and poured over him -- and then the flames were put out.
ohh! hear me out now! you're gonna listen to me, like it or not, RIGHT NOW! hear me out now! you're gonna listen to me, like it or not, RIGHT NOW! (i can't feel the way i did before don't turn your back on me i won't be IGNORED) He collapsed like a heap of fur dropped from a tree's highest branch, hitting the ground with a heavy thudding sound and sending up a cloud of dust, which danced and settled over his already colder fur.
i can't feel (don't turn your back on me) i won't be ignored time will tell (just like it did before) don't turn your back on me i won't be ignored!

Violetlight tensed, ready to help her mate. Her eyes were fixed on her son, but she saw Spectrumfire raise his paw to strike. She waited for it to come down on Icefire, for him to scream out in pain, but nothing happened. The she-cat glanced over at her mate and saw him stumbling as though he had been struck. She glanced back at Icefire, but he hadn't moved. He just stood there, staring at Spectrumfire with cruel amusement on his face.
"Spectrumfire," she choked out, taking a step toward the multicolored tom. Her violet eyes widened with fear at his empty gaze. Panic froze her; she had seen that look before. But nothing had happened to him! He wasn't old or injured or sick, so why would he be dying?
Violetlight finally unfroze and rushed to his side. The she-cat pressed her muzzle into his cold flank. "No," she whispered. Her tongue rasped over her mate's ear, trying to rouse him. She'd known it wouldn't work, but it was still a shock when nothing happened. The she-cat shook her head disbelievingly. Cats didn't just drop dead. She trembled with grief; she couldn't imagine life without him.
Then she looked up at her son, and her sadness turned to fury. She snarled and launched herself at him. "You'll be sorry! Traitor!" she yowled. At that point she didn't care who heard. What did it matter if she got in trouble? What could Mintleaf do to her? What could anyone do to her now? She couldn't lose any more than she already had.
--
"Dad!" Silverpaw cried, coming out from her hiding place. She watched in horror as Icefire murdered him. Just like the fish, she remembered. He cared no more for his kin than for a stupid fish! Her claws slid out, but she forced them back in. What good would they do her?
She could only watch as her mother lunged at Icefire, jumping to her death. Silverpaw shuddered at the thought that she wanted to die, then again when she realized that she had no escape. After what she'd seen, Icefire would never leave her alive. Even if she managed to escape for now, eventually he would get her.
The apprentice looked at her sister. She still had a chance. If she got away now, she could avoid WillowClan, and then she would be safe. She gave her sister a meaningful look and hoped she would understand. Run! You can get away! He doesn't have to kill you too.

All hell had broken loose. At least, that's what Vixenpaw's thoughts were as she stared in shock as her father was shot down by Icefire's powerful mental forces. She shook her head softly as her mother darted to Spectrumfire's side, a little to late, and screeched at her only son for murdering the tom she'd loved. She wasn't in shock that Spectrumfire had seemed to die out of nowhere; no. She was in shock because she, for some reason, hadn't believed Icefire would actually kill him. Hah, you idiot, she scorned herself. Icefire killed that fish, and he almost killed you, but thanks to Silverpaw, you survived. Then she perked up, glancing at her sister who stood across the clearing from her. She read the alarmed look in her eyes, and felt ice prickle her fur uneasily. She wanted to run... but she couldn't. She couldn't leave Violetlight and Silverpaw here alone with Icefire. He wouldn't care about her; she wasn't as threatening to him as their mother and father were. However, Viperpaw was here, and she couldn't risk any trouble with Vastflame and StreamClan. She wanted to tell the tomcat to run, but she was too selfish. Instead, she padded a few steps to him, burying her nose in the fur at his shoulder, her body trembling in terror. She couldn't face her mother or her sister; hot fury radiated from her heart and soul, and, turning to fix her flinty eyes on Icefire, felt as though she were being raked from the inside. Was there no end to it? She wanted to run, she wanted to fight, she wanted to be safe, but all she could do was tremble on Viperpaw's shoulder -- a young cat she'd met less than six hours ago -- and wish she was something other than what stood in brilliant sunkissed gold fur, emerald-shaded blue eyes cinched tight and brush tail stiffly curled around her paws. What was she, anyway, but a disgrace to her legacy?

Viperpaw stared in horror as Spectrumfire fell, the entire clearing freezing as if he had entered a dream, everything moving in slow motion. He heard Violetlight's cry of anguish and rage, saw her seemingly slowly lunge at her son; the dreadful cry of Silverpaw as she watched her father fall. Vixenpaw seemed in shock just as he was, not seeming to want to believe the truth. She turned, heading for him, burying her golden head into his shoulder.
Suddenly the scene came to life again, everything rushing into his head at once. Trembling, Viperpaw stood, his mind finally registering the truth. A father being killed by his own son, by a power Viperpaw had never seen. He'd not moved or used any visible force whatsoever, yet there Spectrumfire was, dead as ever. How was it possible? It seemed he'd been living in a world he barely knew anything about, living in the dream that everything was fine and nothing bad befell anyone he knew. He knew now this was a lie. The world was full of brutal cats and he could do nothing to stop any of it. Except now. He knew he needed to help Vixenpaw, and that was what he'd do, even if the screen on the world he'd thought he known had vanished.
Viperpaw turned then into Vixenpaw, trying his best to convey comfort and turning his body to shield her from further harm. Whatever had caused Spectrumfire to fall, he didn't want her getting any part of it.

Silverpaw shivered and turned away from where the other StreamClan apprentice comforted Vixenpaw. Never before had she felt so alone. Her father was dead, her mother would be soon, and her brother wanted to murder her. Her sister was in another Clan, and she had him. It was time to face the truth; Vixenpaw didn't need her anymore, not now that she had someone in her own Clan.
She had to get away, but that didn't seem possible. There was nowhere for her to go anymore. She had no kin on her side, and she barely knew anyone in WillowClan beyond their name. And even if she had known more cats, she couldn't have dragged them into this too. Even if they would have believed her, it would only make them a target for Icefire. What could she do to stop him, even if she had all the cats in the forest on her side? It wasn't possible.
She couldn't help but feel a twinge of anger at her sister. How could she have dragged another cat from her Clan into this? Silverpaw didn't know him, but no cat deserved to be burdened with seeing Icefire's terrible power in action. What had possessed her to bring him onto WillowClan territory in the first place?
Anger boiled in her belly for a couple moments before she realized that it had nothing to do with unfairness to the StreamClan apprentice. What she was actually feeling was a combination of jealousy and abandonment. Silverpaw lived with a murderer who was after her, while Vixenpaw was safe in StreamClan. Vixenpaw had a friend, and she didn't.
She suppressed a hiss at herself. Now wasn't the time to feel pity for herself; she would be lucky to make it back to the camp alive. Or maybe it would be unlucky if she survived. Death had a certain appeal, since it would mean not having to live in fear of it. Maybe it would be better to get it over with. But she shuddered at the thought of actually being dead; the concept was too big for her mind to grasp, so she stopped trying. All that mattered was staying alive, at least for the time being.
