Really? Weird. o.o; Mine is dark, like usual. Then again, my computer has OTHER problems. Did you know my Microsoft Word is irreparably destroyed? I can never use it on this computer again! Even after uninstalling and reinstalling it! -shares Hidden's glance at Diz-

[[-rides in on Chi-chan- need I say more?]] Icefire smiled in grim satisfaction as he watched Spectrumfire collapse on the ground. It was good feeling, seeing him lying there on the ground, deader than the finch he'd had just that morning. But it would seem that his work just wasn't quite done yet. No rest for the wicked, the young tom thought ironically as he turned his attention on to his mother. "You're a little late, Violetlight," he hissed in his cold voice. "But I can make arrangements for you to follow daddy." And with that, he lashed out at her mind with his mental whip. She was the only one who mattered right now. Silverpaw was a weakling in every way, and anyway, she was immune to his powers... not that she knew that. And Kitsune? She wouldn't dare say anything to any cat, lest she be thought insane in her new home. "I'll get all of you," Icefire sneered as he focused on torturing his mother with images of what he'd do to her daughters, what he'd done to her mate, what he'd do to her. "One day, one day, you'll all lie here, while I rule the forest. That's what I'm here to do." [[villany is fun. Hidden: Silverpaw should accidentally let it slip to Fadingsteps, so we can get Icefire exiled and move things along.]]

((Really? Silver's immune? Cool, I'll buy that. Maybe I'll make her immune to all powers, not just her siblings'....)) Violetlight stumbled and bit her tongue. She yowled and took a step back, waiting for the pain to die down. It didn't; it kept getting worse and worse until she was convinced that her whole body had been ripped into a thousand scraps of meat. Reality was drowned out by an image of her two kits. They sat next to each other, chatting casually. A beam of light made them look even more beautiful, and Violetlight smiled. It didn't matter how much pain she suffered, as long as they were safe. The sky shattered, and everything when dark. Violetlight could see nothing but her two kits, which were now writhing in pain. Kitsune's eyes were stretched wide, and Violetlight recognized the look of extreme pain that her mate had worn before dropping dead. Silverpaw's whole coat was matted in blood, making it a rusty red instead of gray. An image of Nightlight lying dead flashed in front of her, then another one of Crystalheart after their mother's death. "Help us!" her kits wailed. Violetlight tried to run to them, but they slipped away into nothingness and were replaced by Icefire leaning over Spectrumfire, his expression twisted with cruel enjoyment. Then he fell to the ground and stared at her, his once-shining eyes no more than two green circles. Then Icefire turned his gaze onto her and walked slowly toward her. His mouth was curved upward into a smile. She was next. He was going to kill her, and she knew he would enjoy every second of it. The idea of dying didn't disturb her as much as being tortured, and having to leave her kits. Tears welled up in her eyes. She was powerless. Even if he didn't kill her, he would still have complete control over her, and she wouldn't be able to stop him. She would be separated from her mate and unable to protect her kits. Suddenly she was terrified that he would decide she was a good specimen to torture and leave her alive. She couldn't let that happen. Her claws slid out, and, numbly, she slashed at her own neck. Warm blood spurted from her wound. The pain was so tangible that she welcomed it, but it lasted less than a heartbeat. The tabby she-cat shuddered and fell beside her mate, her expression containing a trace of a relief. She had failed, but at least she could be with Spectrumfire. please, go find my silver offspring. she'll tell you where to go next. i think you'll find her by my place of death. hurry though. her steps are fading away as my murderer comes closer. save her.

Viperpaw took in Violetlight's death over Vixenpaw's shoulder, still trying to catch his mind up to the events his eyes were taking in, still not quite comprehending. He couldn't believe a cat as small and scrawny as Icefire could ever kill two healthy, strong warriors such as he had just seen fall. He also couldn't quite seem to come to terms with the fact that there was enough evil in this world for a son to outrightly kill both his parents, and not once show remorse. What he did know now though, was that Vixenpaw couldn't handle another loved-one's death. It would send her over the edge and make her abandon reason, maybe even so much so that it would send her into harms way by which he meant Icefire. And he for one could never let that happen. Even though he'd only known this she-cat for a few breif hours, he felt responsible for her wellbeing and her safety, and he knew she relied on him for such. Esspecially now that both her parents were dead, and her siblings were in seperate clans. Not to mention the fact that one was a raving lunitic. His chilling words sent shivers up and down Viperpaw's spine. "One day you will all lie here, while I rule the forest." Viperpaw vowed then and there than this cat would never acheive what he wanted. For what it was worth, lowly apprentice that Viperpaw was, he'd do anything in his small power to prevent any more cats from meeting the same fate as Violetlight and Spectrumfire. For now though, he needed to get Vixenpaw out of there. Before she lost it. "Vixenpaw?" His voice no more than a breath against her ear. "We should go now. There's nothing you or any cat can do here now. We can't stay here lest Icefire finds us and does us both in. Please come with me." He ended with a plea so quiet it seemed to blend in with the breeze.

Vixenpaw looked over just in time to see Violetlight, too, fall to the ground. Feeling numb, she wanted to scream; realizing what Viperpaw murmured quietly to her was true, she still broke free of him, running to her mother and burying her nose in her neck fur. Why, dear gods, why? She disregarded Icefire, disregarded Silverpaw, and even forgot Viperpaw was there. She felt only the disembodied spirits of Spectrumfire and Violetlight around her, and she desperately wished their morbid passings would let them find peace. Staring coldly at the medicine cat who had slain his parents - her parents as well - she snarled in a voice that resembled shattered glass: You son of a bitch! You didn't have to kill her too! Wasn't killing Spectrumfire enough? Wasn't trying to kill me enough? She darted a wild look to Silverpaw, feeling like she was having a million jagged fangs torn into her flanks.
And you... my sister... why are you living with him? That... that monster? What is wrong with you? You have to go somewhere else, or he'll kill you too! Don't you see? He'll kill everybody? She wanted to throw herself wildly at Icefire, digging, tearing, scathing... gods, she wanted him to burn in hell! One day, one day, one day, she chanted at herself, struggling to calm herself down.
Then she remembered Viperpaw, and her anger vanished almost instantly.
She needed to get away, too, she realized, staring sorrowfully at her sister as she realized that they could no longer be as close as they had been. StarClan knew, she still loved Silverpaw with all the love in her heart, but she belonged to StreamClan now, and Silverpaw had chosen to live her life with a demented murderer. Backing away slowly, she quickly turned back to Viperpaw, darting through the brush and mewing quietly, Yeah... let's go back.
As she walked away, she felt absolutely nothing.
How sad.

Silverpaw stared numbly at the two lumps of fur that lay before her, not fully believing what had just happened. Mom and Dad are dead, she thought dully. Dead. Never coming back. Gone forever. The idea wouldn't sink in; it was too huge for her to comprehend. Her parents had always been a constant in her life. No matter what happened in the outside world, she would always have them. To her, they couldn't die. She would never speak to them again. Never see them again. It just wasn't possible.
She heard the word "sister" and looked up. Yes, you are my sister, she mentally agreed. She saw her sister's mouth move and heard the sounds come out, but she couldn't make sense of them. She saw her turn and leave. Good, now you'll be safe. Suddenly it hit her that Kitsune could also die. Maybe she would never see her again. Maybe she would never see anyone again. "Goodbye," she whispered.
The gray apprentice turned around and trotted deeper into WillowClan territory, away from the horrible scent of death. The sniffed a fern her mother had brushed against, and for a moment she believed that nothing had changed. Then reality came crashing down on her and she fled, imagining death lurking behind every tree, biding its time, ready to take any life which happened to be passing. ((Leafy, want to start a thread with Fading?))
