Eclipse shrugged. "Dunno. If you say so; you'd know better than I would I guess. I never knew Venomfang. He left my mother before I was born." Her amethyst eyes narrowed to slits now, reflecting some of the still-boiling contempt she felt for her parents. "She died of a broken heart when I was scarcely a month old. I'd like to repay that debt to my 'father', if it's possible."

Jade's eyes grew misty as she listened to the conversation. She had no clue what they were talking about, or who they were talking about, for that matter. Curling her tail daintily over her paws, she flicked her eyes boredly and watched as the three conversed. Something about someone dying, because someone left. What. Ever. None of it concerned her, so she earnestly waited for the conversation to pick up to a more interesting topic and pace. * ** *** **** ***** **** *** ** * Crowflight shrugged, glancing around the clearing. Where's Kitefeather? The gray tom asked his brother, eyes flicking to Wren. Before she could question who Kitefeather, was, he explained. Kitefeather is our, motioning to his brother and himself, sister, who always seems to be annoyingly late. The stout tom chuckled disdainfully, silver-blue eyes turning up to the full moon.

Violetlight suppressed a shudder and hid it by shrugging. "Well, like I said, I don't know where he is. But since he's your father, I guess that makes you my cousin." Great, she thought. Another relative for me to put on my hate list. Why did they all end up being such freaks? It wasn't like our parents did anything wrong; Sunstar, Darkstar, Nightlight, and Jetheart had all been good, normal cats. And yet now it seems I'm the only one left with both a heart and a brain. Her tail flicked nervously as she remembered that for a short period of time she had been just as cold-hearted as her living family. She had started to come out of it when she met Spectrumfire. What would've happened if he'd left her? She shook the thought off. "Anyways," she turned back to Jade, waiting for a conversation starter to come to her, but the only thing she could think of was "Why are we here?"
***
"Well, she's not missing much," Wren said gloomily, looking around the clearing. Several small groups of cats were conversing, but the fact that nobody had come up with a reason for why they were all there seemed to hang in the air thickly, slowly building up everyone's impatience.

[Is Morninglight here? I think I saw her on the first post.] xx h a u n t e d s t a r
Wandering here and there. In a forest somewhere, near a stream. It didn't really matter where he wandered, as he saw his life meaningless. The scents and border markers had long since faded away, and even memories were slowly slipping away. He could barely remember Clan life at all, but he did remember that it had been a happy time. He had been leader of a Clan, and he would've forgotten if he hadn't the 'star' at the end of his name to symbolize it. Now his name had no meaning, for he was no longer a leader nor in any Clan at all. He was just a wanderer. He had met her in a Clan. That she-cat, that beautiful femme with eyes of pure and brilliant blue, who's words flowed out of her mouth like a waterfall. Morninglight. He couldn't forget that name, no matter how much he wandered alone. He didn't know why they had separated in the first place, but it had something to do with their kits running away, and presumed dead. They had been so saddened, that they two faded away from each other. He missed her so much. Now his wanderings brought him to this place. There was a group of cats gathered around, talking in low voices, while he stood on the edge and just watched. He wished to see her, or even someone who had known him in the past. But he just stood there, eyes empty.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

((I don't know. She might be dead. I have Sagekit, she kinda knows him... Or I could bring Mintleaf back to life, though I'm not seeing her life getting very interesting with Abyssfang dead.))

[No, she's still in Jade's sig, so she's alive. He needs someone to talk to before Jade can post with Morning.]

< grawr.. i'm bored with this post now. >
Spectrumfire shifted uncomfortably, green eyes flashing as if he could feel Violetlight's discomfort himself. Maybe he could; he was a pretty empathetic cat. His eyes turned on the black she-cat who appeared to show no joy or anger at finding a relative. He cleared his throat before giving this Eclipse girl a sour look.

Shadow smiled warmly, tilting his head to meet Shroud's shimmering lime eyes. "Dumia's really pretty-sounding, isn't it? Much better than your father or my mother could have done." He continued to be thoughtful, pensive, before responding, "It sounds feminine, and classy. Like a daughter of yours would be." He lightly smirked, as if he were teasing her, though he were more serious than could be imagined.

Smirking, Kingfisher retorted, "I've asked him to take full claim of her, but unfortunately, we have to have legal supervison to disown a family member." Giggling, he swung a hearty paw at Crowflight's shoulder, patting him. "Truth is, she could be on the moon, for all I know." A smirk crossed his lips, then vanished, leaving a sincere smile as soft as a velveteen leaf.

((Why can't Jade just post with Morning? Ah, well, Mintleaf is revived, for now anyways. This conversation might be interesting.))
Mintleaf hesitated before stepping into the clearing. A bush was still hiding her; it wasn't too late to turn back and forget this whole thing. A tom's black pelt caught her eye. Her mint green eyes narrowed. Was it him? Now that she knew what scent she was looking for, picking it up was easy. Her eyes and nose searched the clearing for the she-cat who was nearly always with him, but there was no sign of Morninglight. Strange, she thought, her interest caught. She stepped out and padded over to him silently, doing her best to avoid being spotted without making it obvious she was sneaking up on him. When she thought she was as close as she could get she stopped. "Hello, Hauntedstar," she said in a silky voice that only partly concealed the bitterness underneath.

And then there was Mintleaf, the last cat he would ever want to see. She looked the same, but her eyes had dulled and she didn't look as youthful and happy as she once did. They had loved each other very much, when he was her mentor and she was his apprentice. Their love had been so young and so foolish, and when he fell in love with Morninglight instead, their relationship had crumbled. She had gone for Abyssfang, the cold-hearted tom who had raped Morninglight, and it seemed more out of revenge than anything. "Mintleaf," his voice was expressionless, and his body motionless, "It's nice to see you." The years had gone by, true, but Hauntedstar still wasn't a very good liar.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"It's nice to see you too," Mintleaf returned Hauntedstar's lie. "I hope you've been... well." She had tried to think of a better word, then settled with a simple "well." Not like she cared overly much. Not much seemed to matter these days, not even her own kit, whom she had so warmly welcomed into this world. She looked around the clearing and faked surprise. "Where's Morninglight? I heard you two had kits." Her voice was casual, but her eyes lit up happily for reasons that were only loosely related to the she-cat's absence. She didn't know or care how Hauntedstar would react to her sudden unconcealed joy.

xx and you make me want to s c r e a m A long-coated female stepped out of the dappled shadows. Right here. Her crimson and ivory fur was glittering with starlight and her blue eyes shone like lustrous sapphires. Yes. We have two kits. She mewed curtly, settled down next to her mate, Hauntedstar. Their names were - I mean are Shatteredkit and Plaguekit. Her butter-soft words cut through the crisp night air smoothly as Morninglight's tail wrapped around Hauntedstar's. Waves of hatred brushed subtly off of her blue orbs and on the tips of her pelt. She glanced at Hauntedstar and focused her gaze on the thin, pale gray she-cat.

Hauntedstar saw Morninglight appear next to him. He drew in her sweet scent and pressed his body closer to hers. She was warm, as she had always been. Together, Mintleaf was no match for them. They were like one. But as Morninglight mentioned Shatteredkit and Plaguekit, the happiness he had had disappeared. They were gone. Dead? Most likely, but they still hoped each day. "What about you?" he asked, "Any kits of your own, Mintleaf?" It was disgusting to think of what Abyssfang and Mintleaf had created, if they had in fact mated.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Morninglight narrowed her eyes and drew herself closer to her mate. Yes, Mintleaf, do you bear your own children? She hissed lightly, hackles slightly raising in distaste. It was hard to think of what kind of monsters Mintleaf and Abyssfang together would create. Bastardly little beasts, for sure. She looked around, a flush of recognization across her face. Spectrumpaw! Morninglight called out to the multicolored tabby tom, sapphire eyes lighting up.

Mintleaf frowned at Morninglight, thinking her open hostility a bit too, well... open. She had never had anything against Morninglight; though she had despised her for stealing Hauntedstar, until recently the gray she-cat hadn't considered her a bad cat. Hauntedstar's words rang in her head, "I didn't know any other way to comfort her." That was why he had said he had left her. Because of Twistingstar's death. Her old anger began to seep back, but it was pushed back when Morninglight mentioned their kits.
"I see," Mintleaf narrowed her eyes. "What fine parents you've made... Can't even keep track of their own kits." She muttered the last sentence to herself. She glared at the two cats angrily, seeing the looks on their faces at the mention of her and Abyssfang's kits. Her fur bristled; she had honestly thought better of them. Holding innocent kits responsible for who their parents were.
"If you must know, I did have kits with him," she growled. "But I think it's better that they remain anonymous; I wouldn't want cats like you to judge them before even meeting them." Though she only had one kit, she used them to avoid revealing where it was a tom or a she-cat. "And would you stop with the glaring?" she snapped. "I haven't done anything to you."
She turned to look at the cat Morninglight had called Spectrumpaw. He looked far from an apprentice.
---------------------
Violetlight turned away from Jade towards where Spectrumfire's old name had come from. She blinked at the she-cat, then took a step forward to stand next to her mate. "Who are you?"

Eclipse caught the threads of another conversation beginning and smiled thinly to herself. A slight chang in bits of the conversation, and a new one began. Backing up slightly, she dipped her head very slightly to her 'cousin' and her male companion. "It was a... pleasure to meet you, Cousin." The jetblack femme said coldly as she prepared to leave the scene. "May our paths never cross again." She added as a quiet afterthought.
