((She will. They can't stay away for long. Not old members, anyways.
How about we work around my schedule? If she doesn't show up/post by Sunday, Vastflame gets a one-liner.))

ooc - Oh, dearie me. Is it really Sunday? Well, Hidden, because I'm very anxious for everyone to come, I'm going to post with Vastflame, if that's okay with you. Vastflame entered the clearing, his Clan following behind him. He jumped up with the other leaders silently.

Viperpaw trotted into the clearing slowly filling with cats close behind Vastflame, his leader and mentor. Woah... His voice trailed off as he got his first look at the Ancient Oaks, marveling at the beauty of it all. Though he didn't understand it all, this being his very first gathering, he knew it was momentous and special. All the cats from every new formed clan together in one place. He slowed up, falling in step ith Arrowstrike, on of the other warroirs. So how come the clans broke up? This seems much better to me! His naivate of the situation showed in this inoocent question, for he'd not been around for long before the clans started to reform. XXX Arrowstrike shook his head, amused by such a question which had such a complicated answer asked so innocently. It's hard to explain. You should ask your mentor. He'd know better than me anyways. It felt good to be on his way to his first gathering. My first. He mused silently to himself, still trying to wrap his head around that one. A warrior and never been to a gathering. He watched as Viperpaw bolted ahead into the clearing, as Vastflame joined the leaders. Looking around him, Arrowstrike hesitantly made his way over to a solitary warrior, taking the initiative to sit. Looking closer, he thought he knew this cat. Shatteredsky? He ventured, noticing that the other she-cat was staring off, noticing nothing in front of her. It's Arrowstrike. He continued, not wanting to scare her.

Desperate, Shadow leapt forward, realizing that another Clan had arrived. Great .. how would he be able to sight his children now? Enraged by the turn of events, he stalked around the group of water-scented cats, lip curling slightly as he slid around and through them. Damn .. where were they? And then he realized something. Draik and Dumia were very close; they wouldn't split, most likely, into two different Clans. They weren't fond of water, and they liked to fight. Which Clan did that leave .. ? Diving into the MireClan cats, he saw his son .. Draik! Draik! Thank the stars I've found you! What the heck are you doing here? You're mother and I have been worried sick! He snapped, lunging forward to stand -- and tower over -- directly in front of him. He didn't get the welcome he'd expected. Draik reeled backwards, eyes glittering wickedly. It's Darkpaw, he snapped coolly. Loners are not welcome at this Gathering. Leave, outsider, before StarClan gets angry. Shadow's mind reeled. WHAT?! STARCLAN?! What is wrong with him? Look, Dra--Darkpaw, I realize you may be angry at me, or rebellious, but this little rendezvous has to end! You have to return to your mother and me! Desperation crept into his voice and expression. Darkpaw didn't answer, just gave his father a light look, a look that said everything. I'm .. I'm sorry, Dad. I'm staying here .. in MireClan. Tell Mom .. tell her we'll be better off here. Shadow stared at the extension of himself, his lookalike kid, his little piece of Shroud, his son .. and what was he saying to him? That he was going to break apart their family of five, their peaceful, loving family of five? (Demon didn't count as peaceful or loving .. but still.) Darkpaw .. please - No! Mirrorpaw and I are staying here. Dad .. we're sorry. Just .. just leave, before my Clan notices you're here. And leave Shadow did. Darkpaw stared after him, feeling his heart bleed with remorse. I've finally thrown off my old chains .. and I'm determined to set my paw in the shackles again. I'm a MireClan apprentice, now .. and I won't give up just because my parents are a little heartbroken.

Baypaw stared around the clearing with wide eyes. "We should talk to someone." She wasn't sure if she was supposed to talk to cats from other Clans or not. A dark-pelted MireClan apprentice caught her eye. She hadn't had a chance to meet many cats yet, even in her own Clan, since she had joined so recently, but she seemed to recall that his name was Darkpaw. "Let's go talk to him!" she said to Robinheart, pointing with her tail. Without waiting for a reply, she trotted over to him. "Hey Darkpaw," she said cheerfully, oblivious to his sad expression. "It is Darkpaw, right?" Her blue eyes shone in an eager, kit-like way. The first Gathering ever, and she was attending!
*******
Mintleaf padded up the slope that led to Fourtrees, her pace brisk. She was late; that wasn't good. But despite her rush, part of her was trying to slow her down. She dreaded who she would see. What if Hauntedstar was still the leader of MireClan? What would she say to him? Nothing, she decided. Pretend he doesn't exist. But what about the other MarshClan cats? Surely they would remember her, even if only as "the cat Hauntedstar dumped for Morninglight." Technically she had been the one to do the dumping, after she found out that he had mated with Morninglight. Thinking about it still made her blood boil. They had been so close, only for their relationship to be ruined by a cat he barely knew, but who had offered him it.
Mintleaf's thoughts returned to the real world as they reached the top of the hollow. Hauntedstar meant nothing to her now. She paused at the top and waited for her Clan to catch up. Then she flicked her tail and bounded down into clearing and up onto the Great rock. Her first emotion was relief. Hauntedstar wasn't leader. But she didn't let it show, and simply nodded respectfully to the other leaders.
She noted with a bit of surprise how young they all were. She had assumed that they would all the be cats from the old Clans, but she recognized none of them. She also realized that she was neither excited nor nervous. Maybe her personality had just calmed down. More likely was that she had given up on caring.
*******
Violetlight followed her leader into the clearing, noticing that she seemed a bit uneasy. It'll be okay, she told herself. After all, StarClan had chosen her. Surely they knew what they were doing.
She looked around and quickly saw the cat she was looking for. She trotted over to him, stiffling a purr in her throat. She wasn't supposed to love him, but she still did. No Clan boundaries could stop her. She didn't know what she would do if MireClan and WillowClan ever fought. She could tell herself that she would do anything to defend her Clan, but deep down she knew that she valued her relationship with Spectrumfire more than loyalty to her Clan.
Normally she would have brushed muzzles with him and purred loudly, but this time she refrained. Instead she nodded politely, as she would to any warrior in another Clan, but her eyes gave away her true feelings. She could tell that he still loved her too, and that thought comforted her. If the Clans broke up again during their lifetimes, at least they would have each other. "Hello, Spectrumfire," she said warmly.
*******
Silverpaw followed the rest of WillowClan into Fourtrees. She looked around eagerly for anyone she knew, and saw her mother going straight to Spectrumfire. She shook her head and sighed quietly. Could she be any more obvious? But it seemed so natural for her to see them together that it hardly registered that they were breaking the warrior code by being mates. She glanced around again, searching for her siblings or another group of apprentices.

Darkpaw whirled, on guard, ready to snap at someone .. but it was Baypaw, the friendly she-cat from MireClan. He barely knew her, but he wasn't about to betray his newfound loyalties just because of a little tiff with Shadow. He could no longer address Shadow by, "Dad", because that was treason. He had no father .. he had no mother. And with this heart-wrenching thoughts, Darkpaw turned to Baypaw, smiling wiltingly. Hey. Yeah, you've got it -- it's Darkpaw, and you must be Baypaw. Are you havin' fun? He asked lightly, trying not to sound burdened and heavy-hearted, like he felt.
xx At last .. Violetlight! Instead of openly licking her cheek, he struggled to maintain himself, for the sake of both cats, straightened his spine, gave his white chest fur a few licks, and stepped forward. Spectrumfire tilted his head, mewing in a thrilled voice, Ah, Violetlight! How do you like your new Clan? Is it what is used to be? Without pausing for breath, he stated proudly, I'm the deputy of MireClan, now. Plaguestar, he added, pointing with his muzzle to the pale tabby on the hill, chose me. He thought of another thing to ask, one that was not so cheerful, and rather grave: Where at the kits? Are they okay? I haven't seen them in so long .. just like I haven't seen you. I'm almost sorry we did this, Violetlight.

ooc//Shadowsinger and Raptorfang are dead now, right? If not I'll change my post. Fadingsteps walk a little behind his leader, his eyes betraying his worry. His leader looked weaker than usual, unstable almost. She perked up a little as she glimpsed the clearing, and signaling she sailed into the gathering. Still, Fadingsteps held back. This would be his first gathering, though it seemed usual to him, growing up with all the stories about previous gatherings. After his moment of hesitation, he too confidantly trotted down the hill into the circle of the Ancient Oaks. Keeping a wary eye on his leader, ready to rush to her aid if need be, he mingled among the clan-cats, listening to snippets of conversation. It seemed strange after all the stories that he would be here again, just as his parents were before him. Pain constricted his heart as he realised that his siblings would never get to see this sight which pleased him so. He knew that both of his curious siblings would have loved to be here. Looking above him to the clear night sky, he imagined his family watching him here from Starclan. A slow tear made a track down his face as he sat gazing, unaware for the time being of the gathering around him. XXX Singedpride raced down the hillside, looking at the faces of the clan-cats. Why am I here again? I don't belong here with any of these cats! Singedpride, not one for big reunions such as this, didn't feel the need that her nephew did to socialize. Catching sight of a tree at the edge of the mass of milling cats, she climbed up into it's strong branches, finding a nice branch from which to watch to procedings. She knew why she was here, of course. She found it tiresome at times being alone, and she'd grown used to the comforts that clan-life could bring. Though I really don't see the point of these gatherings. I didn't join a clan for this, that's for sure. Having been a loner the majority of her life, she also liked the silence and the peace of living on her own.

Shatteredsky looked at the tom who spoke to her. She smiled a little smile at him, and simply mewed back in reply, "Arrowstrike?" Of course it was him, for there was no mistaking such a tom. She couldn't remember the last time she had talked to him, for she had been so busy with medicine cat duties. She figured their last conversation had been at the Weeping Forest, where she and Plaugestar had been reunited. She flicked her tail as she saw more and more fill the ancient clearing, including more leaders whom she did not know. Arrowstrike was a pleasent tom, so she decided to make conversation. "First Gathering, huh? Me too. It's exciting, isn't it? Our parents used to do this and now here we are doing it moons later!"

Uhuh. It is! I can't believe I'm actually here. Arrowstrike mewed back, glad she'd recognized him. He seemed to remember he'd not been too nice to Shatteredsky the last time they'd met. For the life of him, he couldn't understand why. Arrowsrike sat next to the excited she-cat, purring happily. So what do you think so far? Of the gathering I mean? He questioned her, keeping the conversation alive. What clan are you in now? I'm in StreamClan.

"What do I think of it?" her emerald eyes shone brightly, "It's wonderful. You see that rock where all the leaders are standing?" She nodded off in the direction of the massive stone, glimmering silver under the full moon. Plaugestrike was there, and several others. "Well, that's where my grandfather used to stand, and my father too. They were wonderful leaders, and now my brother is one of them too." She let out a little laugh. "Quite a legacy, no?"
Arrowstrike told her that he was now in StreamClan, and a part of Shatteredsky felt a twinge of pain. He was a clever tom, helpful and kind too, and it was a shame he wasn't in MireClan with her. There was something about him when she first met him that made her feel happy inside, love almost, but she knew that Medicine cats could never have kits or have mates, no matter how much they really wanted too.

Baypaw returned Darkpaw's smile. Once again, she was completely oblivious to his true feelings. "Fun?" she asked, tilting her head sideways and looking confused. "I don't know... I've done more fun things before." Her eyes brightened again. "Like once, me and Robinheart jumped into the river below that waterfall--you've seen it right? It's HUGE!" She continued without pausing. "Then she pulled me out and we went to MireClan territory." A long string of cheerful chatter followed. She babbled about everything and nothing. If Darkpaw had stopped listening, she hadn't noticed.
She was in the middle of talking about Clan leaders when she looked up at the Great rock. "WHOA!" she said suddenly, jumping in surprise. Her fur bristled for a moment before she regained control of herself and sat down again. Mintleaf was... no way. She had been in MireClan! Baypaw's mind whirled, trying to wrap itself around the idea. Underneath her confusion was unease at a memory she had forced herself to forget. It had happened a few moons ago. Baypaw couldn't recall exactly what had happened, but she remembered that Mintleaf and Robinheart had fought, and that she had stopped them. She remembered how she had felt completely invincible as she had plunged into the fight, and how she had uttered a cry that was strangely not her own. She shuddered involuntarily.
*******
Violetlight purred at her mate. "Congratulations!" she said, her violet eyes glowing with pride. "And don't worry, the kits are fine," she purred reassuringly. "It's so much better than how I remember it. I joined ValleyClan just in time for it to be attacked, and for my mother to be murdered." Her eyes clouded momentarily, but she found she couldn't stay sad for long. That had been ages ago, so long it was almost as if Nightlight had never existed.
"But now everything's peaceful. I take it things are going well for you too, deputy." She smiled and dipped her head in joking respectfulness. Then her mood suddenly changed, and she blinked sadly. "Maybe... I wish you could have joined WillowClan. But you're deputy now." She purred again, her mood brightening. "Let's just hope that we never have to fight each other."
She remembered a question that had been nagging at her ever since they had decided to go separate ways. It was no use; she had to ask. "What do you think..." she paused, trying to think of how to word it. "Now that we're in different Clans... Do you think you would ever take another mate? One... in MireClan." She looked into Spectrumfire's emerald eyes. She wanted an honest answer. If they agreed on it ahead of time, it would save both of them guilt and jealousy if either of them did find another mate. But when she looked at him now, it seemed impossible that she could ever find anyone to match him. Just speaking with him gave her a warm, happy feeling, one she had missed while they had been apart.

[[Time for Plaguey to cause some trouble in his own extra-special way.]] and they say that a hero can save us Excusing himself from the tom called Crimsonstar, Plaguestar stepped to where his deputy stood, deep in conversation with a WillowClan she-cat. "Spectrumfire? Would you mind introducing me to your pretty friend here?" The voice was innocent, a little guilty, perhaps, at interrupting the reunion of MireClan's deputy with his WillowClan mate. Plaguestar smiled as he stepped up next to Spectrumfire's side, head tilted to one side in curiousity. Spectrumfire was, of course, his senior in both age and experience, and that was why the young tabby had chosen him as his deputy. With a blink of his light blue eyes, the creme-and-brown tabby nodded to the pretty black she-cat. If this is his mate, he's a lucky fellow. I wouldn't begrudge him her company, even if she's in a different Clan... i'm not going to stand here and wait ====== someday, somehow [[we're going to assume that Demon and Redblood still haven't resolved things.]] Demon's head peeked out from the cover of the shrubs. She'd followed Redblood here, overcome by a new feeling that she hated more than anything, and another that she found strange. The first was guilt. The second, love. She'd been a real bit.ch back there, chewing him out and clawing his face, then leaving without so much as a 'sorry'. Now, for perhaps the first time in her lonely, hard-hearted life, Demon found herself feeling awful about doing something so mean to him. As for the second emotion, she'd pushed it away for so long, it hardly felt like it was there anymore. But it was, had never left her at all. So Demon found herself leaving the safety of the shrubbery, walking past Draik--now Darkpaw, as he'd told his father and her cousin, Shadow-- and up to where Crimsonstar stood. "Crimsonstar, eh? I liked Redblood bett'r, but, if'n yer gonna go wit' a Clan name, guess I could give it a try too. 'Ow's Burnfang sound, kid?" i'm gonna make it alright, but not right now

((Oh my. Violet's a silver tabby, by the way.))
Violetlight started at the sound of another cat, but quickly regained her calmness. She could scent MireClan on the newcomer, and realized that he must be Plaguestar. But he didn't seem angry that his deputy had a mate in another Clan. The silver tabby smiled politely and dipped her head. "I'm Violetlight. And you must be Plaguestar. Spectrumfire was just telling me about you." It was a half-lie, but hopefully the flattering would work. She hoped Spectrumfire wouldn't get into trouble because of her.
