Darkpaw smiled, tilting his head at Baypaw's expressive rambling. Every now and then, he'd reply with a, Uh huh. Yeah. Wow! Really? Cool. But then he heard her stream of joy come to an abrubt stop. Glancing at her face, he registered a look of confusion. On her profile was marred in fear and dark memories. Hey, Bay .. you okay? What's the matter? He asked, stepping closer. xx Spectrumfire jerked his head up when his leader approached. He had been mulling the intensity of Violetlight's question. Another mate? Other than Violetlight .. the she-cat I love with every fiber of my body, the she-cat who bore my beloved children, the queen that haunts my dreams with her silver pelt and lavender eyes? How could I ever .. Smiling at Plaguestar, he purred, Yes, as you know, before MireClan was formed, when we were younger, we were mates. But now we're just friendly towards one another, so as not to be .. well .. unfaithful to the warrior code. He shot Violetlight a hurt look even as he said this, for he didn't know if he could take the thing he'd said as .. really .. true. Turning back to his leader, he asked in a noncommital tone of voice, So, Plaguestar, do you know anything about the other leaders? Mintleaf, Vastflame, and Crimsonstar, right? I don't think I've seen any of them .. except for .. Mintleaf, of course. He narrowed his eyes on her name the second time, though he felt no resentment towards her. He knew her only as the first mate of Hauntedstar and the second mate of Abyssfang, and although he pitied her stupidity for that mistake, he felt no rage or hate towards her. She wasn't a plotting, hate-filled, jealous wreck. She didn't rape the daughter of the leader. xx Will finish later, 'kay?

"What?" Baypaw asked, snapping out of her memories. "Oh, uhm... Nothing. I just... Didn't expect the rock to be so... big." She made a feeble lie to cover up for her true reasons. Despite having been betrayed, she still felt bound to obey her mother's order, which was to never tell anyone that they were related. She still didn't know why, but nonetheless obeyed. "What's it called, anyways?" she asked, starting to regain some of her old perkiness. "The Really-Really-Big Rock?"
*******
Violetlight nodded in agreement with Spectrumfire's first statement. They were just friends. Officially, anyways. She glanced away to hide her flicker of doubt at the mention of Mintleaf. Like the rest of WillowClan, she secretly wondered what had possessed StarClan when they had chosen her as their leader. She had been a MarshClan warrior, was depressed, weak, and Violetlight suspected that she was slightly insane. The only justification was that Mintleaf and WillowClan sounded really good together. There were tons of other cats who would've made a better leader. But Violetlight wasn't about to express her doubts to cats from another Clan, not even Spactrumfire.
It dawned on her how strange it was for a random WillowClan warrior to be speaking with the leader and deputy of MireClan. I was here first, she reminded herself. Plaguestar just interrupted. She wished that he would leave. She still had more to say to her old mate, but she couldn't speak openly in front of the MireClan leader.

((Wow, Hidden, I do believe you took Baypaw's ditziness to a whole new level. The Really-Really Big Rock? Ha ha)) Robinheart had been listening to Baykit halfheartedly, as was the usual case simple because the young apprentice seemed to speak far too much and way too fast fir Robin heart to understand. She payed enough attention to know that the tom's name was Darkpaw and Mintleaf had just made an appearance. Her fur bristle and her tail swept the ground furiously, her dark green orbs narrowed with her fury. She cast, through her narrowed orbs, a quick glance at Bay paw who tried in what one would consider a vain attempt to hide her pain and her shock. "It was very nice to meet you, Darkpaw" she muttered "If you'll excuse me..." she moved away from the pair of apprentice. She moved, like a hawk determined to catch it's prey, through the throng of gathered cats, weaving and twisting. She stopped a few tail lengths before the, in Baypaw's words, Really-Really Big Rock... ~~~ The large black mass that was Wolf sat on the edge of the clearing. The Old Ways are returning he told himself, a bit of white fang glinting in the pale moonlight in something of a half-smile. His odd eyes picked up the same eerie glint as he moved closer. His size alotted him only so much space and as a precaution he stayed on the fringes but was still able to... observe...

((Waiting for Darkpaw and Plague/Spectrum...))
Mintleaf glanced around the clearing, and saw a familiar cat making her way towards the Great rock. The gray leader narrowed her eyes and jumped partway down the rock to meet her, but stayed slightly above the warrior. She now reeked of MireClan. "Hello," she said bluntly, staring at the other cat with hostility and waiting for an answer. If she was looking for another fight, too bad for her. There was a truce during the Gathering, and Mintleaf doubted that Plaguestar would take kindly to one of his warriors attacking the leader of another Clan. Leader! she suddenly remembered. She was the leader of WillowClan. She didn't have to pay attention to warriors from other Clans now, and they were forced to treat her with respect. It was brilliant! She could easily get used to it.

Darkpaw blinked, smiling a bit at Baypaw's lame cover-up. Then her silly question. Well, I'm sure it's not called the Really-Really Big Rock, but I wouldn't know; I didn't grow up in the Clans. You probably know more about them than me, he sniffed, smiling. But my grandmother was a medicine cat, so I guess I should know. xx Crimsonstar swung his head around to meet the eyes of .. none other than Demon. Her tone was more conversational now, and although he could tell she was still angry with him, she was a little cooled down from her former hatred of him and his desertion. But I did it to get away from the evil in me and find the good, he wanted to plead. Sure, Demon isn't evil, but she isn't good, either, and that's what I needed to be .. good. I guess .. well .. I guess I had a feeling I'd have to step up to this task. Someone who talks and acts like I did .. that wouldn't be a god leader. Smiling coolly at his old friend, he replied, Well, you would like Redblood better. However, you know very well I chose this name to honor my dead father. How primly and smoothly this flowed from his mouth. Long ago, he would've scorned Crimsonlight's existance, but the satori in his soul converted him from sarcastic darkness to the purer side of the heart-entwined pair who died in the hills of MountainClan, leaving a new legacy of kits to fend for themselves. He'd always known, in a way, it'd come down to this. How are things going with Shadow and Shroud and those bra--children, eh? You never seemed like the motherin' type t'me--to me, he corrected twice, inwardly seething. In front of all these cats, too! Well, come hell or high water, he wasn't going to let Demon's rough slang bring out his own.

well, this is it now
Demon smiled thinly. Here she'd come, trying to make amends, and Redbl- Crimsonstar, she reminded herself, was acting all high-and-mighty on her! Well, two could play at that little game.
everybody get down
"Pft. Kids ran off fer th' swamps. Ya see 'em over there?" She flicked her tail towards where Draik, now Darkpaw, stood, chatting with some block-headed she-kit. "Broke th'r par'nts hearts, but they're 'appy as a couple o' squirrels wit' a tree full'er nuts, the kits." The red-orange tabby narrowed her brilliant green eyes.
this is all i can take
"I ne'er was th' moth'rin' type; stuck by Shadow an' Shroud 'cuz they was all I had left in th' world." She flattened her ears against her skull as the anger in her began to reach a crescendo. "Not 'at ya'd care, right, Red? I'm not good 'nuff fer a high'n'migh'y clannie, am I? Where's yer new gal, huh? Di'n't ya bring 'er 'ere wit' ya an' yer li'l gang?" Despite the mean, slashing words, Demon felt something inside her began to crack. He didn't care about her. He didn't like her in the least. Well, he could go rot in hell, for all she cared!
this is how a heart breaks

Quite literally Robinheart had to bite down on her tongue untill it bled to keep from speaking. In a show of mock-respect, she dipped her ginger-and-white low to the ground, her tongue protesting as drops of her own blood filled her mouth. Her mind was a cyclone of thoughts, all of which had Mintleaf dying in some horrible, evil way or the grey she-cat was already. They all ended with a triumphant Robinheart yowling and an adorably ditzy Baypaw just as happy. She brought her head up but kept her dark green eyes averted from the one she-cat she hated more than herself. "Hello" she muttered through gritted teeth. Get yourself together came the sahrp tone of her father, one who was used to having cats listen to him. Oh shut up! she told him. I-I'm a warrior now and I take my order from Plaguestar...~~~ Wolf was still on the outer limits of the Gathering. His odd eyes caught, at the bottom of the Great Rock, the gray pelt and green eyes of his leader and then in front of her was a rather sweet-looking tabby-and-white she-cat with drk eyes of a color he did not know. His eyes caught the moonlight oddly as he shouldered his way through the crowd of gathered felines with severl loud "Get outta my way!"s. He came to stand to the left of the tabby-and-white she-cat. "Mintleaf" he began, lacking the respect any other warrior would have for their leader but well that was thier leader, not his. "Not fighting, are we?" he asked. his tone blunt and harsh as he glared at his leader...

It is, I should think. Arrowstrike replied carefully, remembering his comment on this particular subject before, when Shatteredsky hadn't reacted quite nicely. I should say I am enjoying it too. I hope it is not too much trouble to join you here? He questioned, hoping he could stay. Something about this she-cat attracted him, though she was in another clan now, so there really was no hope for either of them. So what have you been up to as of late? It wasn't meant as an intrusive question, just a inquiry. He was curious about this cat, how she spent her time. Though for the life of him he couldn't understand why.

your cruel device
Icefire's pale violet eyes glimmered maliciously as he approached Mintleaf's flank. The tom was small, even for his eleven moons, and was definately not warrior material. Perhaps that was what had made him see that his potential lay in being a medicine cat. But Icefire was not a peaceful sort, like so many others. Far from it, actually.
your blood, like ice
The grey tom flicked his orange-tipped tail as he reached Mintleaf's side. He cast a disgusted look at the ginger-and-white she-cat before them. "Mintleaf," He said, ignoring the she-cat who positively reeked of MireClan. "The other leaders are still chattering like so many sparrows." His voice was sharp and high-pitched. It was something that so many others would call 'irritating' or even 'wicked'. He liked it, though.
one look could kill
For a moment, Icefire was tempted to cause somecat at this hateful Gathering pain; namely, one of his family members. It was bad enough that Violetlight, his mother, and Silverlight, his sister, had joined WillowClan with him; he had to hide his powers and intentions from them, too, but hiding things from Mintleaf was easy enough. The fool, Icefire told himself coldly, pushing aside his sadistic desire to merely meow, in his eerie voice, "Might I suggest that you begin the actual Gathering, to show them who is the strongest?"
my pain, your thrill

Crimsonstar narrowed his eyes at Demon. Nope. His thoughts before were wrong -- still very, very angry and quite hurt. My 'new girl'? I don't have anyone else, Demon, he answered, a little stung by her cruelty. I'd never replace you. And I wouldn't have run out on you if StarClan hadn't called me here. I would have rather stayed with you and live the easy life of a loner forever. But .. Glancing up, into the stars, he mewed solemnly, I can't run out on my responsibilities now. Glancing back up, weariness in his amber-green eyes, If you wanted to join GorgeClan and make it better than it ever was, I'd be obliged to be with you again. But I don't know if you'd be willing to do that for the sake of a tom you once loved. I know your type .. not at all the loyal Clan warrior. Here he smiled briefly, not to mock her or anger her, but a grin full of nostalgia for the slang-talking, beautiful orange femme. She was more to him than he could ever tell her, especially now, but he realized fearfully she might want it to be over. Could he really be unfaithful and befriend her again, although she was a loner? Glancing down at his Clan below, he felt, in a way, it wouldn't matter. Why should it? After all .. he wasn't always a Clan warrior.

i hate everything about you Demon blinked hot tears out of her green eyes, still feeling hurt. But the wound was not so complete that she hated him. But his comments still stung all the same. With a smirk, she tried to revive some of her famous spirit and attitude. why do i love you? "I ne'er liked Clans," the tabby said off-handedly. "Me'n'Shadow'n'Shroud, we went t'Mount'nClan once. Hated it. Too many cats fer m'likin'." She grinned, a lie through and through. Inside, she was wrestling with herself. She could go to live in GorgeClan with him, make things better! But she'd always been a loner, had never been much of a crowd-lover, much less someone easy to work with. you hate everything about me Right now, a impulse seized Demon. She butted her forehead against Crimsonstar's, locking eyes with him. This time, though, they gleamed not with anger, but with remorse. "I ne'er stopped lovin' ya, kid. Ever. No tom's fool 'nuff t' argue wit' me th' way ya do, Red. Yer one'f a kind, kid." She smiled a true smile now. "Now, what've I gotta do t'make th' cut fer yer gang?" why do you love me? ============ and i don't want the world to see me Plaguestar smiled at the grey she-cat and at his deputy. Just friends, eh? Inwardly, the young tabby sighed. What he would give to have love like Spectrumfire and Violetlight had once had! But he couldn't let anyone see that. Not here. 'cuz i don't think that they'd understand "It's very nice to meet you, Violetlight." The large tom said simply, swishing his tail from side to side slowly as his thoughts raced in his mind. "And no, Spectrumfire. I don't know any of the leaders. Except..." Plaguestar's tone changed to one much darker than before. "Except Mintleaf. I know her." His blue eyes narrowed. when everything's made to be broken Oh, how Plaguestar hated Mintleaf! It was because of her, her and Abyssfang and Morninglight and Hauntedstar, that MarshClan had fallen apart, that he had been forced into the role of MireClan's leader. It was bad enough that Plaguestar had had to take his half-sister Baypaw into his Clan and thus, into his care, but she was better than that evil she-cat who seemed to be leading WillowClan now! Despite himself, Plaguestar found himself glaring daggers at the she-cat, hackles raised. Given a chance, he'd kill her! i just want you to know who i am ==because plaguey isn't just sunshine and butterflies, you know.

((GAH! I leave you for one day, and a bazillion posts get added!))
Baypaw stiffened as Robinheart went over to the Really-Really-Big Rock to meet Mintleaf. No! Don't fight again! her mind wailed. But Robinheart seemed to be trying to restrain herself, so Baypaw reluctantly turned away in time to catch half of what Darkpaw was saying. "Really? What was her name?"
---------------
"Of course not," Mintleaf answered Wolf coldly. He didn't smell of any Clan, and Mintleaf was about to comment about loners at Gatherings when a squeaky voice cut her off. The gray she-cat turned and saw that her medicine cat, Icefire, was speaking to her. She wasn't sure whether or not she liked the oddly colored cat. His voice annoyed her, but he was a medicine cat, and she therefore respected his ideas. From what she had heard from him so far, he seemed like the trustworthy type. "Yes," she said softly. "We need to get on with this Gathering."
With that, she turned and jumped back onto the Great Rock, pointedly ignoring the two cats who had been speaking with her. Vastflame, the StreamClan leader, was still perched atop the Great Rock, looking vacant. "Hello?" she asked curtly. "Shall we get on with this?" Without waiting for an answer, she called out to the other leaders.
"Crimsonstar! Plaguestar! Come on, sometime before sunrise!" For some reason she felt more irritable than usual. She would be glad when this was over with.
---------------
Silverpaw grunted as a cat shoved her aside. She hissed softly in annoyance, then saw that he was headed towards where Mintleaf was talking to a MireClan cat. The silver she-cat started to follow, then hesitated. An apprentice shouldn't talk to a leader at a Gathering. Then she saw her brother approaching the ever-growing group and quickly joined them herself. "Hello, Icefire," she greeted him bluntly.
She wondered if he would call her by her birth name or her apprentice name. She thought that Silverpaw sounded a bit silly, but that was how the Clans worked. then again, soon she would be old enough to become a warrior. Silverpaw had no idea why Icefire had chosen to become a medicine cat. Sure he wasn't the warrior type, but he was even less the medicine cat type. His ability was torturing cats! Medicine cats were supposed to heal, not hurt.
-----------------
Ivoryfeather slipped into the group of cats at the Gathering. She took a deep breath to calm herself. Oh, how she hated crowds! The white she-cat took a look around, then sighed and sat down. There wasn't anyone she particularly wanted to talk to, but she did notice a group of cats gathering. They seemed to be focused on a gray she-cat with green eyes. Interested, Ivoryfeather wove her way through the crowd until she was close enough to listen. She gathered that the she-cat's name was Mintleaf, and that she was leader of WillowClan.
She felt eyes boring into a pelt near hers, and looked over to see Plaguestar glaring at the gray leader. Interesting, she thought. I wonder why everyone's so interested in her. She looked at individual cats and saw that some, mostly from MireClan and WillowClan, were also eying the she-cat. She would have to find out the story later. Or maybe now. After all, that was what a Gathering was for, right?
--------------------
Violetlight followed Plaguestar's gaze, and saw that he was glaring at Mintleaf. Jeez, what's his problem? she wondered. He wasn't exactly being discreet about it. To her surprise, Mintleaf didn't look over, simply turned towards her son to listen to something he was saying. Icefire. Violetlight was proud of her son for becoming medicine cat, but at the same time she felt nervous. There was no denying that Mintleaf was weak, and few cats knew Icefire better than she did. Violetlight had the nagging feeling that the medicine cat would use their leader's weakness to take control of the Clan. The gray she-cat knew that nothing good could come from that. She loved her son to no end, but she was also aware that he had a certain darkness, which made her nervous around him.

Hazelsplash weaved her way into the mass of cats at the Gathering. Her first Gathering as a warrior! Joy tempered her uneasiness and she slipped from group to group, giving passing mews to those she saw and knew. Meows were filling her ears, and the sound of pawsteps were loud and clear in the hollow. Feeling a bit disconcerted for a moment, the dappled warrior soon spotted a cat she knew from the previous Gathering. "Hey Violetlight!" Hazelsplash called as she trotted up to the gray warrior, waving her tail in greeting. Excitement was thrilling in her veins and she couldn't wait to say... "I've been given my warrior name!" She blurted out eagerly, her whiskers twitching. "I am Hazelsplash now."
