Shatteredsky listened to her brother, who spoke like a true leader: saying everything good and nothing bad. Then again, there was truth to his words because MireClan was doing well. There were many apprentices, warriors, a brave and loyal Deputy, and she, as Medicine Cat. It was probably more than what any of the other Clans had, and Plaugestar had every right to brag. He was leading MireClan well, and although Hauntedstar was not his true father, she couldn't help but think how much he reminded her of him.
She sat quietly and waited for the next of the leaders to speak. Perhaps it would be the one called Crimsonstar, a tom she had seen earlier talking to another she-cat. It was the way his eyes shone that she knew he liked-- or even loved-- her. She felt a little sorry for him because the she-cat didn't return the same loving gaze. Yes, she wanted him to speak next because he didn't seem as strong as Plaugestar, and whichever Clan he represented would appear weak. She knew better than to think such things, but this was Clan life now, and she always wanted her Clan to thrive over all others.

Singedpride watched the procedings from her vantage point, stirring when the leader of MireClan started to speak. Fine. She nodded, jumping down to join the other cats at the gathering. Staying to the edge, for she didn't especially enjoy crowds, she spotted a tom who looked somewhat familiar. Walking over towards him, she sat a few feet away. Wolf, was it? She asked of his name, though she remembered now who he was. We met in that old barn a while ago, right? She kept her comments short and direct, not glancing at the large tom. So you've joined up? Where'd you settle? Not that I care. She reminded herself carefully. Glancing up at him to check his response, she positioned herself so he could tell she was listening while waiting for the other leaders to speak up.

Vastflame's tail twitched awkwardly, staring out at all of the cats. All waiting for the next leader to speak. Sighing, the crimson tom stood up and took a few steps forward. The ivory tip of his tail twitched once more, as if to call attention to him. For those of you not familiar with me, I am Vastflame. I chose to keep my old name instead of changing it, and StarClan granted it. I am the leader of StreamClan. His sapphire eyes flickered over his medicine cat. My Clan is doing well. I have yet to choose my deputy, but my medicine cat is Ivoryfeather. Vastflame dipped his ginger head towards her as a sign of respect. Anyone interested in joinin the Clan may talk to her. Vastflame twitched his ears, then continued, casting a sidelong glance at Plaguestar. All bodes well in StreamClan. The prey is plentiful and the water runs strong. We are doing fine. With that, he dipped his head again and took his place next to Plaguestar, sinuous tail curling around his white-tipped forepaws.

Baypaw turned as the MireClan warrior, Blackrose, came up to them. "Hi, Blackrose!" she said happily, returning the warrior's cheerful smile. Then her leader started to speak, and she turned eagerly towards the Really-Really-Big Rock, her eyes glowing with kitness. Her first Gathering was starting!
-----
Ivoryfeather nodded back at her leader. She felt uneasy having attention being brought to herself, but that was just the way gatherings were. It was a small drawback for being a medicine cat, and he wouldn't have to announce her every moon.
-----
Mintleaf only half-listened while the other leaders gave their announcements. She had nodded at Crimsonstar when he had joined them, noticing the she-cat he had been talking to. Her mind wandered, but through her thoughts she noticed that MireClan only had two warriors and a deputy. Three total! And they claimed to be doing well! Admittedly, they did have two more cats total than WillowClan, but WillowClan had more warriors. Mintleaf quickly gathered ther thoughts, glancing over at Ivoryfeather when she was mentioned.
When Plaguestar was finished, Mintleaf stepped forward. "WillowClan is doing well. All is peaceful," For now, "And we have more prey than we know what to do with." She flicked her tail toward Fadingsteps. "Fadingsteps is my deputy, and Icefire is our medicine cat." She nodded toward the oddly-colored tom. "That is all." She stepped back and looked at Crimsonstar, the last leader to go.

laid to the river
Blackrose smiled back at Baypaw. Innocent kit. It was nice, the mottled warrioress mused, to have such innocence, to face everyday with such vigor and optimism. Blackrose couldn't remember ever having felt that way about life. Perhaps as a young kit. A very, very young kit.

"All the other Clans seem so eager to brag about their strengths," the young femme said aloud, to no one in particular. "But I think it's more entertaining to look for their weaknesses, don't you?" Her yellow-green eyes glinted with a sudden, wicked thought.
a v of black swans
"Look at StreamClan. Yonder tomcat, Vastflame, has no deputy, and bids all prospective cats to speak with his medicine cat if they wish to join," Blackrose slipped unconciously into the strange method of speech commonly used during her youth. "Yet a healer is no leader, and does a leader not need a second voice to guide them, other than the spirits?" She smiled, though this one was suddenly devoid of warmth.

((Gah. I don't have muse for Baypaw. It's hard to RP a clueless charrie, because she wouldn't understand what Blackrose was telling her. Oh well.))
Baypaw looked back towards the MireClan warrior. "I guess..." she said doubtfully, not wanting to be disagreeable. She didn't really think looking for weaknesses in other Clans was fun. Now, play-fighting, that was fun! She hoped she wouldn't be as boring as Blackrose when she grew up. "But why do we care whether they're weak or strong? It's not like we're fighting them." She blinked and looked at the warrior, her blue eyes wide with cluelessness.

my love is just waiting
Blackrose smiled, eyes brimming with happiness, however false a facade it was. "But someday we will, Baypaw," she said, switching back to this vernacular. "Someday, you'll be a warrior, and you'll have to fight for MireClan's glory and survival. You, Darkpaw, even myself: we'll all fight, and we'll have to know our opponent's weaknesses. That's what my fa- Ammet," the warrior corrected herself swiftly. "Taught my brothers and I when we were half your age, aye, and half your size at least." She smiled, feeling slightly nostalgic for those wonder-filled days of old.

"Ammet?" Baypaw asked bluntly, staring at her dumbly. Fighting... She didn't want to fight. She didn't know much, but she knew that. Sure, she was strong, and would probably make a great fighter, but she hated it. What was the point of ripping other cats to shreds? It didn't make sense. "Why do we have to fight? Why can't we all just be friends?"

Darkpaw, a little uneasy with Blackrose, quickly turned to Baypaw's question. Yes, why can't we all be friends? He thought softly, thinking of how he'd cruelly pushed his own father away. He answered -- almost mournfully -- Some cats just don't wanna be friends.
xx Crimsonstar sighed before stepping forward, flexing his limbs in the light of the moon. Even bathed in silver, his flaming coat was bright enough to appear made of fire. Glancing down at the gathering of cats, he stated steadily, Not to be repetetive, but GorgeClan is doing fine. Glancing down and seeking his few members, he meowed, My selected deputy is the warrior Coalclaw, and my medicine cat is former member Windgust. Although we are few as of now, I have a feeling we will come back stronger than ever before. This, he put extra emphasis on; although Mintleaf, Vastflame or Plaguestar didn't seem to be threatening .. well, you never knew. Sending hard glares down to the cats still speaking amongst themselves, he stepped back, amber eyes flaring brightly in the darkness.

Windgust turned as she heard Crimsonstar speak. Yes, it was she he was speaking of just then, naming her as GorgeClan's medicine cat. She sat taller as her leader mentioned their clan and the condition they were in. Yes, they seemed few, but with time and her healing skills she knew GorgeClan would grow strong again. XXX Fadingsteps followed the leader's conversation closely, but they all turned out in basically the same fashion. All clans are well, have members, and are thriving. Though GorgeClan had a lack, he noted, of it's members, Crimsonstar was confidant they would be up to full strength soon. He also didn't look like he was inviting an easy attack. Not that Fadingsteps had any interest in fighting others at this early date, but being Deputy, it was his duty to stay informed.

now again i've found myself
Plaguestar smiled faintly at the announcements of the other leaders, then glanced up at the night sky. The moon was beginning to sink in the sky, having long since passed its zenith. He nodded to the other three cats atop the Great Rock with him. "The night grows old, Crimsonstar, Mintleaf, Vastflame. We should be getting back to our territories now, unless there is more we must talk of?" He left the invitation open, though he was itching to get home, away from the eyes of those around him.
so far down, away from the sun
========== i begged you appear
Blackrose shrugged at Darkpaw and Baypaw. "Friends are all well and good, Baypaw, Darkpaw," she said, with a flick of her ebony ears. "But can you really be loyal to the Clan when you are tied with friendship to those who wouldst take our sacred territories?" Her yellow eyes fixed themselves on the two youngsters. It was time they learned of life and its hardships; she'd known of it when she was there age, by the stars!

[Yessss. . . Ah Hidden, I blame Hauntedstar for Mintleaf's craziness.] All the leaders had now spoken, so Shatteredsky rose to her paws and looked to the sky. The full moon was waning and the sky was growing lighter, and she could see the fainting of the twinkling stars. She stretched and came over to the leaders perched on the great and mighty stone, and looking up at them, she chimed in with her brother in agreement. "Yes, dawn is approaching," she said to them, green eyes flickering, "Let us all go and keep the peace of the full moon." She said this directed toward one of the leaders, the one known as Mintleaf; she had not said anything particularly unkind, but she could see it in her eyes a world of hate and anger. She wondered what could cause a cat to feel such emotion, but quickly dismissed it from her thoughts entirely. It was not her place to be thinking of leaders of enemy Clans, no matter how sad they may have been.

Flicking his tail dismissively, Crimsonstar stood and stretched -- quite disrespectfully, might it be added. Flicking a hazy, lazy glare around the other cats, he yawned, Far as I know, we're all done. Glancing down towards a black she-cat with the MireClan scent as he spoke to them respectfully, he shrugged. Long as all the Clans get to their beds soon in one piece, who cares? Throwing an amber look of curiosity down to the green-eyed, dark colored she-cat once more, he turned to Mintleaf and Vastflame, the two without the respected names of StarClan. And he thought he was a ruffian!
xx Darkpaw, mystified, blinked up at Blackrose. Well, no, he mewled hastily, glancing at Baypaw. But that doesn't mean we go looking for the chance to rip cats' guts out, is it? His voice was a little hollow-sounding, tinted slightly with fear. He just hoped this strange MireClan place wasn't a cult of some sorts. That would be .. deciding not to think about anything negative, he wondered spiritedly if Mirrorpaw was looking forward to their experience as MireClan warriors, as well! Glancing back into the darkness, however, he was reminded naggingly of Shadow, Shroud and Demon. He knew Demon was here, which irked him slightly, but he did not seek her out; why should he? She obviously hadn't come to see him, and Shroud hadn't sent her to retrieve her roaming kits, so why bother her? If she wanted to join a Clan, fine -- or if she wanted to chit chat with that massive red tabby up there, fine! Who needed her? Who needed Shroud, or Shadow? Parents were so overrated! Well, so he tried to think. However, he felt as guilty as someone who had murdered a tom. Looking at the full moon, Darkpaw had no idea how prophetic that theory was.
xx Kitsune cringed slightly as Plaguestar offered the chance for more conversation. No! She thought iffily. I don't wanna stand out here all night! I wanna go join StreamClan, dummy! Let's get the show on the road! Instead, she sighed and stirred her paws uneasily. Thankfully, many of the cats of the new four Clans had once been loners, so her scent wasn't foreign in any way; however, if she remained a loner, she would never be able to come to another Gathering, no matter how badly she'd want to see Spectrumfire, Violetlight, Silverpaw or Icefire. Then, an angry claw slashed through her. Why the hell would I wanna see that murderous backstabber?! I want him dead! I want .. I almost want .. to .. kill him. Glancing at the moon, as if afraid the heavens had heard her thoughts, she subconciously unsheathed her claws. The death of her brother did not fascinate her with gory passion; gods, no! She wasn't demented! She just .. hated him! He had tried to kill her .. So one day she wanted to return the damned favor!

((I blame Hauntedstar too.))
Baypaw looked at Darkpaw in confusion. Why wouldn't a cat want to have friends? Friends were good! "But if everyone were friends with everyone else, then we wouldn't need territories." Baypaw pointed out. Maybe Blackrose would finally see her point of view. The young apprentice certainly wasn't seeing hers.
Mintleaf nodded at the other leaders. "Yes, we should go." She agreed bluntly, then jumped down from the Great Rock. The gray she-cat flicked her tail in a signal for her Clan to follow, then padded off towards the WillowClan camp.
Violetlight blinked at her m--ex-mate. "WillowClan is going back now," she said. "I'll see you in a moon." She gave him a small smile, which she hoped only looked friendly. They would be able to talk more at the next Gathering. The gray she-cat turned and followed her leader.

Spectrumfire smiled softly as Violetlight departed, along with the rest of her Clan and his kin. Turning to his flame-pelted daughter, whose green eyes followed her three kinmates longingly and with a touch of nostalgia, he meowed, So, have you decided to join a Clan? He hoped for three things. He hoped she wouldn't ignore him. He hoped she would answer him with a "yes" .. and he hoped she would say, "I want to join MireClan." However, Kitsune's eyes flashed determinedly. Glancing at her father once before turning back to the forest where she watched WillowClan leave, she mewed, Yes. I'm joining StreamClan. She gave no other explanation, just stood up and began to walk away, and, without turning around, threw over her shoulder, See ya, Papa. I've gotta get to StreamClan territory so I can greet Vastflame and offer him my loyalty soon!
xx Crimsonstar watched WillowClan leave before he bounded down the slope, calling, My Clan has no more business here. GorgeClan, return to our camp! CRIMSON -- GORGECLAN KITSUNE -- STREAMCLAN
